**The Witch's Quest**

I had done it. I had finally finished my novel and posted it online the day before. I hadn't slept much at all, having stayed up late to make sure everything was just right. So, when I went to bed I didn't even bother taking off my clothes, just laid down on the bed and passed out.

When I woke up the first thing I did was check my phone for any notifications that might have popped up overnight. The one I was looking for never came, but there was something else that caught my eye. In the corner of my bedroom there was a small book on its side on the floor next to my nightstand. It was about an inch thick with a red cover and gold lettering that read: "The Witch's Quest". The book itself seemed to glow from within, which made me think it must have been an old book or something, but I'd never seen it before in my life. If someone had placed it there while I was asleep they must have been a ninja because they were good enough to avoid waking me up.

I picked it up and flipped through its pages and realized it was some sort of journal or diary of some kind as there were entries starting from March of last year with bits and pieces of other things thrown into random sections between entries as well. The weirdest part though? There was a bright red ribbon bookmark in it at about half-way through, so whoever owned this book had written most of it over the past few months. It really was bizarre, but since whoever left it behind hadn't woken me up I figured why not read it? Who knows how long it will stay there anyways? It could be gone tomorrow or maybe even back where I found it in the corner of the room by this afternoon.

I settled down on the bed and started reading where the bookmark was lying in place. At first there were just personal details about someone named Sarah who lived in Seattle and worked at some job she hated called "the bank" and how she struggled to pay her bills every month but found joy in spending time with her cat Molly after her long days slaving away for her corporate masters. Then when she started dating her boyfriend he became jealous of Molly (which is kind of silly) and insisted that Sarah get rid of her beloved kitty because he thought she liked Molly more than him (of course he was wrong), but she refused to give up Molly because she loved her too much for that so instead she broke up with her boyfriend despite how much she still cared for him (yeah dude you deserve that). She said she wanted to wait until he changed his mind about Molly before trying to date again (smart girl), but then never mentioned another man again until after a few months when she got a job working at some school doing something like human resources or whatever people call that department now-a-days ("the bank" wasn't good enough anymore?).

It wasn't until later that year when Sarah wrote about how she went over to visit one of her friends one day after work only to find out he had died suddenly at his home earlier that day ("the bank" must be rough if you die before you even get home). She said nobody knew what happened because he had just been doing normal things like checking Facebook and watching Youtube videos on his computer that morning when suddenly he collapsed onto his keyboard without making any noise or anything so nobody heard him fall from all the way upstairs where his bedroom was located (only possible if you are sound asleep or dead). Anyway, Sarah said she stayed for hours holding his hand at the hospital where he died trying to figure out what he meant by "she likes this" when he sent a text message to somebody earlier that day only moments before collapsing in front of his computer screen (that's right dude you are dead now so stop texting your girlfriend!).

Sarah decided not to go back home after visiting her friend's house because frankly she didn't want to hear the constant moaning coming from upstairs while everybody else mourned downstairs (*cough* pussy *cough*). Instead she decided to stay in an apartment complex nearby where one of her other friends lived who liked spending time alone writing short stories about fantasy worlds full of magic and monsters (wait...what?) This guy apparently also liked playing video games all night long every night which made Sarah feel bad for him because he basically lived alone since his parents died several years ago (for real dude don't play so many video games). She said sometimes she would join him playing games like Minecraft or Dungeons & Dragons and sometimes even helped him with technical stuff related to computers or whatever and would always end up helping him get better at reading aloud his stories due to all those years spent working at "the bank" even though they weren't good together romantically because they were both into different types of music ("the bank" requires lots of sacrifice apparently). *sigh* Sacrifices must be made!
