doctrine: Survivor Cats

The space ship floated in the vast expanse of the galaxy, its sleek silver exterior gleaming under the distant glow of stars. On board, a crew unlike any other manned the control center. But this crew was not made up of humans or even robots. No, this crew was composed of ten cats.
Each feline member had their unique personality and set of skills, making them an exceptional team. The Cat Captain, a regal and commanding tabby cat, led the group with unwavering confidence and wisdom. Snout, a mischievous ginger kitten, possessed boundless curiosity and a knack for getting into places he shouldn't be. Luna, a gentle and mysterious calico cat, exuded healing energy that brought comfort to her comrades.
As the cats lounged around the control center, basking in pools of warm sunlight that streamed through the windows, they groomed themselves with long licks across their fur. It was a peaceful scene, filled with contented purrs and flicking tails.
But little did they know that danger lurked just beyond their cozy haven.
In the dark corners of the ship's corridors, Shadow watched with narrowed eyes as the cats reveled in their blissful ignorance. This black cat was different from his counterparts on board. There was something sinister about him—something cunning that set him apart.
Shadow had conceived a treacherous plan: to take over the ship and rid it of its current feline occupants. He craved power and dominance above all else and believed that this vessel could provide him with endless opportunities.
Silently creeping through shadows like his namesake, Shadow began to sabotage various systems on board. His first target: communication.
Acting quickly but stealthily, he severed wires and disabled transmitters until all connection to the base station back on Earth was lost. The cats were oblivious to his manipulations; too engrossed in their sun-soaked relaxation to notice the subtle changes around them.
When the Cat Captain attempted to send a routine report, he was met with only static and silence. His ears perked up in confusion as he tried again, but the result was the same. The other cats exchanged worried glances, their happy expressions turning into furrowed brows.
"What's wrong, Captain?" Luna asked, concern lacing her soft voice.
The Cat Captain shook his head. "I'm not sure, Luna. Our communication system seems to be malfunctioning."
Snout let out an excited squeak and bounded over to the control panel. "Can I try?" he asked eagerly.
The Cat Captain nodded, stepping aside to give Snout room. The young kitten peered at the buttons and switches, his whiskers twitching with anticipation. But no matter how many times he pressed and prodded, the result remained the same: nothing.
Snout's face fell in disappointment as he turned back to his fellow felines. "I think something's really wrong," he said with a sigh.
The crew gathered around the control panel, their tails swishing in growing unease. Suspicion began to creep into their minds as they looked at each other warily.
"Could this be... sabotage?" Max, a muscular and protective cat, growled lowly.
The other cats exchanged wary glances as the possibility sank in. The once harmonious atmosphere on board was now tainted with distrust and uncertainty.
