Purry Helly's Five Crystals

The sun's rays beat down relentlessly on the parched earth. The hot wind blew sand and grit into the mouths of those foolish enough to open them. To the east was a vast ocean, to the west a great desert, and in front of her was a small cat with two black feathery wings. "You are not Aasimar," said the cat, her voice filled with confusion as well as anger.

"No I'm not," answered He-cat, though he'd be lying if he said his heart wasn't beating hard from the sudden appearance of this creature. "I'm just some guy."

"Do you have any idea how far we've traveled?" asked She-cat. "I could smell it for weeks before we found the Cat Paradise. But then it was gone. My whiskers were practically bleeding in pain by then."

"Yeah, I know it's only been a few days," replied He-cat. "But they're crazy there! They throw kittens off cliffs, they force them to fight each other to the death! And they don't let me eat any of the prey!"

"So you left because they wouldn't let you eat?" asked She-cat incredulously. "That makes no sense at all!"

"You seemed pretty hungry too when we got here," retorted He-cat. "And that place had nothing but rocks and water! How can anyone live there? No one even has fur! What kind of paradise is that?"

"It's a paradise for cats!" stated She-cat emphatically. "And I intend to return there one day." She looked around at the dead landscape surrounding them for a moment before turning back to He-cat. "We should work together to find those crystals."

"What do you mean 'return there'? We were cast out remember? Do you really think they want us back there?"

She-cat paused for a moment before replying, "Well...maybe not me...but if we find those crystals they'll have no choice but to let you return."

He-cat chuckled as he thought about that prospect and rubbed his paws together gleefully. "Yes! You see? This will be fun after all!" He turned away from She-cat and started walking purposefully out towards where he remembered seeing a mountain peak in the distance when he first arrived here.

She-cat watched him go for a moment before following behind him silently. As she walked she noticed something strange about her surroundings; there was something familiar about this place. After a few minutes she stopped suddenly, causing He-cat to break out of his reverie and turn around in surprise at what he saw next: she was standing right next to his feet, staring intently at him with her ears flattened against her head and her tail tucked between her legs; she almost looked like an ordinary house cat again at that moment except for her naked pink skin which glistened in the sunlight and her inhumanly long whiskers which still ended in barbs unlike domesticated cats. It was kind of cute actually; she looked like an embarrassed kitten just being caught doing something naughty by its mother or father (which incidentally is exactly what He-cat reminded himself he would be).
