·
Published 7/16/2023When his best friend is held captive by a cunning villain, Bakugo, a young hero, is forced to obey every order or risk violence being inflicted upon Deku. In a heart-wrenching battle between his pride and his friend's safety, Bakugo must make a crucial decision that will push him to his emotional limits, captivating onlookers with the complexity of his internal struggle.

Bakugo was pissed.
He couldn't believe it-- the entire time he had been playing the villain's game, he had taken every order seriously. He had spent hours getting in shape, scouring the city for any hidden Deku and trying to catch him when it seemed like there was a chance. He had even considered blowing up half of Japan if that would get Deku to show himself-- but now that he was here, face to face with Deku, he felt nothing. Nothing but boredom.
Bakugo was bored out of his mind.
He stood there on the roof of the building, staring at Deku who was tied up and gagged next to him. The villain sat across from them, looking pleased with himself as he stared at Bakugo while drumming his fingers impatiently against his knee. It had only been an hour since they'd been captured by this guy, but it felt like forever.
Bakugo tried to focus on what was happening right now-- getting rid of his boredom meant thinking about something else for a second-- but he couldn't even do that properly. His brain felt like it was filled with cotton balls, and every time Bakugo tried to focus on not being bored anymore, all he could think about were those damn cotton balls!
Bakugo wanted to punch something-- anything! He wanted to scream and kick until these cotton balls fell out of his head so he could use his brain again! But instead he just stood there, staring blankly at Deku and the villain, waiting for whatever horrible order the villain had in store for them next...
The villain grinned at him knowingly, as if sensing Bakugo's state of mind. "Don't worry kid," he said slowly as if talking down to a child, "I have an order for you tonight."
Bakugo stared back at him coolly-- or at least as coolly as someone could when their brain felt like it was stuffed with cotton balls-- then glared scathingly at the villain's stupid beard.
The villain laughed heartily before pointing at Bakugo excitedly. "This kid here seems bored!" He turned towards the crowd behind him that had gathered around the rooftop-- some of whom were still trying to figure out how they got here in the first place-- and raised his arms dramatically in front of him. "What do we do about such a situation?" He spoke mainly for the benefit of his audience; it wasn't hard to tell that this guy loved attention.
"How about a game?" someone shouted loudly from the crowd, causing many people surrounding him to nod eagerly in agreement. This guy knew how to play up a crowd, that much was certain...
"Great idea!" The villain clapped his hands together violently and jumped off of his chair so quickly you'd think he'd been sitting on live wires or something. He ran over towards Deku and Bakugo while shouting gleefully into the sky above him, "A game is just what we need!" Then he looked over towards Bakugo and started tugging excitedly on one of his sleeves while pulling him closer towards the restrained Deku, who looked both terrified and relieved depending on what part of Bakugo's face you were looking at at any given moment... which made sense considering how confusing Bakugo himself found everything going on around them right now...
Bakugo couldn't help but roll his eyes. A stupid game? Was this villain serious? He resisted the urge to blast the guy into oblivion. Despite the overwhelming boredom, Bakugo knew he needed to stay focused. He had to find a way out of this mess, and fast.
The villain continued to explain the rules of the game to the crowd, but Bakugo wasn't really listening. His mind was too preoccupied with finding an escape plan. He glanced at Deku, hoping to silently communicate his intentions, but Deku's gaze was locked on the villain, a mix of fear and determination in his eyes.
The game, as it turned out, involved some sort of puzzle that required Bakugo and Deku to work together. The villain, ever the showman, reveled in the attention of the onlookers as he placed a large, complex contraption in front of them. It was a combination of gears, buttons, and wires, resembling a Rube Goldberg machine on steroids.
Bakugo eyed the contraption with skepticism. This was going to be a waste of time, he thought. But then, a tiny spark of curiosity flickered within him. He was, after all, a problem-solver at heart. Maybe this game could provide the diversion he needed to outsmart the villain and make his escape.
As the crowd cheered, the villain released Bakugo and Deku from their restraints. Bakugo cracked his knuckles, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. Perhaps this game wouldn't be so dull after all.
The crowd eagerly watched as Bakugo and Deku stepped forward, ready to face the challenge. The villain's cackles filled the air, tightening the knot of tension in Bakugo's chest. With a swift glance at Deku, Bakugo knew they needed to communicate without the villain realizing. So, he whispered under his breath, low enough to be covered by the villain's voice.
"Listen, Deku," Bakugo said, his voice barely audible above the commotion. "I have a plan. Follow my lead, got it?"
Deku nodded, his eyes narrowing with determination. This was their chance to turn the tables on their captor. They stepped up to the contraption, ignoring the villain's smug expression.
As the game began, Bakugo quickly assessed the intricate design. It was clear that brute force wouldn't solve this puzzle. They needed to think strategically. Bakugo glanced around, searching for any advantage.
Then, he spotted it. A hidden panel embedded into the structure. Without missing a beat, Bakugo discreetly signaled Deku to create a diversion. Deku nodded and conjured a small tornado, swirling brightly colored leaves around them. The crowd gasped in awe, their attention momentarily diverted.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Bakugo swiftly opened the panel, revealing a few hidden wires. He analyzed them and quickly deduced their purpose. These wires controlled the main power source of the contraption. If he could disable it, they could escape under the cover of the distraction.
With a calculated move, Bakugo severed the wires, cutting off the machine's power. In an instant, the contraption halted, its gears freezing mid-turn. The crowd fell silent, confusion and disappointment replacing their excitement.
Bakugo grinned triumphantly. The villain's expression twisted into a mix of rage and disbelief. "What have you done!" he spat, lunging towards Bakugo.
But it was too late. Bakugo and Deku capitalized on the distraction, swiftly dodging the villain's outstretched hand. They darted towards the edge of the rooftop, their bodies moving with synchronicity.
Bakugo's heart raced as he leaped off the building, the wind rushing past him. He glided through the air, a fiery explosion propelling him toward the safety of the ground below. Deku followed suit, his expression a mix of determination and exhilaration.
Together, they landed gracefully, their bodies unharmed from the daring escape. The crowd below gasped in astonishment, their applause mingling with the villain's enraged shouts.
Bakugo's boredom had finally dissipated, replaced by an adrenaline-fueled sense of victory. He turned to Deku, a fierce determination gleaming in his eyes. "Let's finish this, once and for all," he said, his voice tinged with a newfound resolve.
Deku nodded, his own determination mirroring Bakugo's. They had escaped the villain's clutches, but their battle wasn't over yet. The city needed their combined strength to ensure its safety.
With unwavering determination, Bakugo and Deku set off into the night, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Their rivalry may have been fierce, but their friendship and shared goal to protect the innocent would always prevail.
