Karin's Iron Age Magic

It was a strange feeling, being lifted up into the air by invisible hands. Wading through the ocean and sand, I felt distinct as an individual.

The wind whipped my hair in all directions. The sun shone brightly on my face as if I was the center of attention. “Who is that girl?” I wondered.

I found myself standing on a high cliff overlooking the ocean. The day was clear and crisp, the sea calm and blue. A wave below me attracted my attention, the splashing water calling to me like a restless baby would call for its mother.

I waded into the wave, marveling at how it felt to be part of nature like this. My toes tickled as they were submerged into a freezing cold abyss. I laughed aloud, feeling free and giddy like a little girl would do when she is happy.

The wave receded from beneath my feet, but just as I was about to step back onto shore, something caught my eye in the water: a glimmering object with fascinating lines etched into the surface of the object. Curious, I reached out to touch it, then before I knew it, I had pulled it out of the water and was holding it in my hands.

I looked down at the object in wonderment. It was small, yet magnificently designed with all kinds of symbols carved into its surface that seemed familiar somehow... Then suddenly I remembered: they were runes! They were ancient runes belonging to an ancient language!

Excitedly, I held up my find for everyone to see: a small circular metal disc, decorated with ancient runes around its edge. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head: if this device could be so well preserved after being lost in these waters for thousands of years, what other treasures could be lying beneath this gentle ocean? Immediately forgetting my previous happiness brought about by being one with nature, I jumped up and down excitedly: this discovery meant that there were more things beneath these waters!

I began walking towards shore along with many other people who had seen me pull out the mysterious artifact from the ocean’s depths. As we neared closer and closer to land, I could hear voices shouting amongst themselves: “What is it? What does it say?” Others kept asking questions such as “Where did you find that?” and “Do you know what those symbols mean?” over and over again.

What should have been an enjoyable moment turned into one fraught with tension just as soon as we reached dry land; upon seeing me carrying their prize away from them all alone, some of them became agitated at me for not sharing their discovery with them all at once – especially since it was their own village where we were at now!

Quickly shoving past them all in order to get home first and show off this new treasure to everyone else there before anyone else arrived here last minute to dig out their own artifacts or whatever other reasons they might have had for doing so (like maybe stealing whatever they may have discovered that belonged to others here), I ran off as fast as I could while ignoring all calls from others who wanted me to simply wait up for them!
