"It's a great day to be alive Ava!" Raven called out as he walked towards the oak tree. He pulled a rope from his pocket and tied it to an upper branch then began to swing back and forth.

"Yeah, yeah, I know." Ava replied. "Flattery will get you nowhere." She said with a smirk.

Raven chuckled. "Can you believe it's already our last year of school? We're going to be leaving for college next year Ava! What are you going to do? Where are you going to go?"

"Well, I'm still not sure. If I had my choice I'd want to go somewhere that didn't have much sun. But I guess I'll need to find a place with a good school for me to continue my education." Ava answered, resting her elbows on her knees.

Raven sat down next to her. "Well wherever you end up, I hope you find a place that you can call home. I mean, we've barely been here a year and we're going to miss this place so much." He said, giving her a hug.

"I know, I know. But I really think this has been the best time in my life. I've met you, I've made lots of new friends, I've made some enemies, I've learned things I never knew before...I'll miss it." Ava said, wiping a tear from her eye.

Raven gave her another hug. "Ava, this place may be closing but your life isn't. You're going to have a long, and hopefully happy life ahead of you. So don't be sad. Be happy because we're going to be living our dreams." He smiled.

Ava nodded and wiped the rest of her tears away. "I know. It's just...hard. I know it's silly but I'm going to miss this place. It's been my home for two years, and I was just getting used to it." She sighed.

"Hey, what if we make our own little 'last day of school' tradition?" Raven asked, excitement in his voice.

"Really? What is it?" Ava questioned.

"Well we'll just meet under this tree every year on the last day of school, and just sit here and talk about all the good times we've had, and all the fun we had. And we promise to meet each other anywhere in the world and do the same thing with each other no matter where we are!" Raven exclaimed.

"I like it. Sounds like a good idea." Ava smiled.

Raven stood and offered his hand to Ava, helping her up. "Then it's settled. Every year, this day, we'll meet here and talk about how close we are."

"I'm gonna hold you to that." Ava laughed.

"You better." Raven said, wiping a tear from his eye.

"So what did you want to talk about?" Raven asked, sitting back down.

"Well, I just wanted to say thank you for everything. You've always been a good friend to me and I'm going to miss you. I was considering moving to America, but I don't want to live too far from you. So where ever you go, I'll find you." Ava smiled.

"That sounds good. Where ever you go, I'll be with you." Raven replied, smiling. "But you know I'm going to miss you too right? I don't know what I'm going to do without you around." He said, giving her a sad smile.

"We can still talk on the phone every night and text each other whenever we have time. And we can Skype every now and then. But one day we'll meet up and have a reunion." Ava said, smiling.

"That sounds perfect." Raven said, wiping a tear from his eye.

"It's getting late. You should probably head home." Ava said, standing up.

Raven stood and gave her a tight hug. "I love you Ava. Thank you for being in my life. I couldn't ask for a better friend." He said, pulling away before wiping the tears from his eyes.

"I love you too Raven. Thank you for everything." Ava said, hugging him again. "See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow. I'll miss you." Raven said, giving her one last smile.

Ava watched him walk away and let out a deep breath. "I'll miss you too." She whispered.
