Before I was a player, I was just a kid.

I had this amazing fucking mother, who bought me all the gameboys and nintendo consoles I wanted. She also taught me how to read so early on that by the time I was in kindergarten, I could read better than most of my classmates, who were still struggling with 'cat' and 'bat'.

She was this wonderful woman with a beautiful smile who always treated us kids like her own. My older sister was constantly trying to convince everyone that she wasn't my mother, but soon enough all the relatives started asking her how she didn't look like me.

I remember one time when we went on vacation to this really fancy place in Vermont. We even got to see some of the family from Canada! We ate lobster and corn on the cob and drank some beer that tasted like shitting out a yellow sun. It was great times. But then it happened. That night, when I woke up crying for water or something because my stomach hurt so bad... she wasn't there.

She had passed away that night while I slept soundly in my bed. The doctors said it was sudden heart attack or something like that; they didn't know why it happened or what would have caused it. All they knew is that she was dead and they had to take her body away forever.

After that, everything changed. Our house no longer seemed as nice as it once did. My father worked too much to pay off all the debts he now owed to our bank and credit card companies. My sister stopped talking to anyone outside of our home, except for those ones she met over the internet in her many online forums.

I just couldn't bare staying at home anymore, so I eventually ran away from home and found myself wandering the streets of New York City until someone saw me and called the police on me for being homeless or whatever the fuck they thought I was doing here alone at night without a guardian or adult around.

So they brought me here -- To this center where they keep all the kids who have been orphaned or abandoned by their parents and need help sorting out their shit before they end up joining gangs and getting killed in drive-bys or whatever else goes on down there on those streets outside where I used to live; you know? And anyways... when I got here, eventually like all the other kids before me... my teacher started showing us these new games he'd been teaching us about every day! It was crazy! He started with snes classics-- Super Mario World, Zelda A Link To The Past, Super Metroid; then he moved onto some Pokemon games and amiga classics-- Sonic 2 & 3D blast; then he finally showed us this super advanced pc game where you could play any kind of simulated game world you wanted!

And you know what? This old man-- Mr Scay... yeah that's right! That's his name! Jeezus if you knew him you'd be screaming his name at random too! Anyways.. So Mr Scay told us that if we played these games long enough, he would teach us how to use them too! And then maybe we could even play them with our friends outside of the center! And not only that but we might even be able to make money playing them with kids from other places too! Really? You mean all these years we've been stuck inside here never looking past these walls might not be all there is?! What if we could actually get out into the real world out there?? All these years we've been wasting away? What if there's a whole new world out there waiting for us to explore!?
