On a distant Mediterranean island, Detective Wolfe arrives to investigate the the murder, which took the life of the former mayor, Blackwood. Upon arrival, Wolfe gets a glimpse of the mystery and hillbilly horrors of the town, feeling a sense of unease and threatening darkness. As he pores through the evidence available, it appears that Mayor Blackwood's murder wasn't as cut and dried as his death suggested. Added to the peculiarity of it all, a mischievous, anthropomorphic cat is tailing and seemingly attacking Wolfe since his arrival. Everywhere he turns could be linked to someone who had history and grievance with former Mayor Blackwood and a further regard for their secrets. Determined to get to the bottom of this injustice, Wolfe begins the tedious process of questioning and collecting evidence that could help shine light on the murderer's identity.

Wolfe’s investigation reaches a midpoint moment when he discovers a clue in the form of a thoughtful reflection; a riddle connected to a vague location once visited by the former mayor. After seeking help from the townspeople, Wolfe is confident that the mystery can be resolved and navigates his way to the uncovered location.
