The sun slowly rose over the horizon as the first rays of light broke through the darkness. The quiet morning was interrupted by a loud bang that echoed in the distance. The sky turned red as a large mushroom cloud rose into the air.

“What is she doing?” Kayma said to herself as she watched the smoke rise towards the sky. She could smell the burning flesh and her eyes began to water.

She shook her head and walked towards the front door of the house she was staying at, “I’ll just get my things, tell them where I am headed, and then be off.”

Kayma opened the door and walked into what appeared to be a living room, “Hello? Is anyone home?” A man stumbled down the stairs, “Oh hello! Who are you? How can I help you?”

Kayma put out her hand to greet him, “My name is Kayma. I am on my way to find the other tribes so that we can meet up before heading to the final battle with The Darkness. I just wanted to let you know where I am headed before I go.”

The man took her hand and gave it a firm shake, “Ah yes! You must be talking about Black Saturday, that was terrible! But now we have some great new technology thanks to your work fighting against The Darkness. That is why we made it here safely!” He pointed towards an armchair across from him, “Please have a seat! Can I fetch you anything to eat or drink? Anything at all! This house has everything, it even makes its own food! Isn’t that amazing?!”

Kayma sat down in the chair and looked around at everything she saw, “That is quite impressive but if you don’t mind me asking, who are you exactly? We haven’t met yet but it seems like we have already accomplished so much together. Thank you for all that you have done for me.”

The man smiled and sat down next to Kayma on his sofa, “Oh silly me! My name is Keith and this here is my house! Well more like my best mate and favorite place to watch TV with a beer in hand! He makes sure we don’t run out of those either and just keeps us happy all day long! Now back to your question, yes we have done some pretty incredible things together such as saving Australia from The Darkness once already but only because of you! You are truly amazing and incredibly brave for taking on such an arduous task when no one else could do it for themselves! We owe you our lives so please feel free to stay here as long as you need to rest after your travels! Would you like some chicken nuggets with that beer? They are really good today!”

Kayma stared at Keith for a moment with utter confusion on her face before saying, “Oh uh… No thank you but thank you for the offer anyway. It really means a lot to hear all those things from someone who has survived something so tragic like Black Saturday considering how many people were lost that day. So how did you manage to travel here after such an event? Where are your friends and family now? Surely they did not make it too… Right?”

Keith grew silent as he stared off into space, thinking about his family members that had perished in Black Saturday; “Well… I guess they didn’t make it out alive…. Not all of them anyway… I lost most of my friends during Black Saturday except for this guy right here *points towards his TV*. But he didn’t lose any of his friends or family, so he was alright during everything… And so was I because of him… It was horrible watching everyone die while trying to get away, but luckily there were others like me who made it out alive thanks to him being smart enough to design an underground bunker with some awesome technology built inside of it, like an EMP bomb which knocked out most of The Darkness army before they could even touch us. But there was still plenty of damage done which is why we are all staying in bunkers until further notice. But enough about me… What about your family? Why haven't you checked up on them yet after defeating The Darkness just days ago? Do they live in southern Australia perhaps since that is where most of your people came from originally? Well, whatever happened after defeating The Darkness is none of my business, so don't worry about telling me if they didn't make it. We can focus on the future and the task at hand."

With a solemn nod, Kayma thanked Keith for his hospitality and understanding. She knew there was much to be done in their ongoing battle against The Darkness, and every moment counted. With a heavy heart, she quietly left the house, heading south towards Sydney, determined to bring hope back to the devastated lands and unite her people once more.
