"That's him."

The man in the dark suit turned around.

"Hey, you! Yes, you!" Detective Takeshi pointed at the man who had just entered the building. "Stop right there!"

The man froze in place, his eyes darting from side to side. He was tall, with broad shoulders and a strong jawline. He carried himself with an air of confidence that bordered on arrogance. His jet black hair was slicked back, revealing a perfectly symmetrical face. He looked like he had stepped out of a magazine ad.

"You're under arrest for multiple counts of kidnapping, assault and theft," Takeshi said as he reached for his handcuffs. "Hands up!"

The man raised his hands but continued to gaze at Takeshi with a look that seemed to say Who are you? Get lost!

"I said put your hands up!" Takeshi shouted angrily. "I don't know how many times I have to tell you that you're under arrest."

The man kept his hands raised. Takeshi grabbed him by the collar and pushed him against the wall. As he cuffed him, he noticed a small tattoo peeking out from underneath the man's cuff link. It was a stylised kanji symbol that Takeshi had never seen before. It looked vaguely feminine. The man glared at him with blue eyes that matched his silk tie. The faint smell of flowers wafted off him: jasmine? gardenia? something else? The flowery fragrance was almost intoxicatingly pleasant.

Takeshi shoved the criminal into the police car and slammed the door shut behind him. On the radio, Sergeant Hasegawa spoke briefly before signing off: "All units be on alert! We are looking for a dangerous criminal wanted by Interpol! Repeat: we are looking..." Takeshi sighed wearily as he turned on the engine and drove away from the koban (police box). He had been chasing this guy for months now but always seemed to be one step behind him; it was like chasing smoke or shadow - no matter how much you chase after it, it will never seem to get any closer or further away... As he drove down the street and turned onto a main road, Takeshi watched through the rear view mirror as another police officer took over guard duty at their koban; soon enough, they would realise that none of them had seen him since yesterday afternoon and would call for backup... A sudden thought struck him then: where did I see those eyes before? Those eyes were familiar yet foreign at the same time... Suddenly, it hit him like a bolt of lightning: he remembered everything! His heart thumped wildly in his chest as he pulled over to the side of the road abruptly and jumped out of the car; he didn't care whether there were cars around or not - all he could think about was getting home so that he could check if what he thought just now was true... As soon as he opened the door and stepped into his apartment, there was no doubt left in his mind: yes, this is where I saw those eyes! It was when Tomi Takeshi met Detective Tomi Takeshi...

Takeshi stood frozen in the doorway of his apartment, his heart pounding in his chest. The man he had just arrested, the one with the captivating blue eyes—the eyes that mirrored his own—was a spitting image of himself. It made no sense. How could this be? Taking a step back, Takeshi felt a wave of confusion and disbelief wash over him, threatening to pull him under.

He stumbled forward, his footsteps echoing through the empty rooms as he made his way to his study. The walls were lined with shelves, filled to the brim with dusty old books and folders of unsolved cases. The sight of his own face, staring back at him from the photographs scattered across his desk, sent a shiver down his spine.

Months of tireless investigation had led him to this moment. The man he had been pursuing, the man standing behind bars at the police station, was not just any criminal—he was his doppelgänger. The realization hit him with a force he couldn't comprehend.

Takeshi couldn't ignore the similarities any longer. The same sharp features, the same unruly shock of black hair, the same captivating blue eyes that seemed to hold hidden depths. But how could he be connected to this criminal? The questions swirled in his mind, threatening to consume him.

Frantically, he fumbled through the files on his desk, searching for any leads that might offer an explanation. Hours turned into minutes as Takeshi became lost in a web of documents and photographs. The answers were out there; he just needed to find them.

And then, his eyes fixated on a faded photograph tucked between the pages of an old case file. It was of his parents—the same unmistakable genetics shared by Takeshi and the criminal. His mind raced, piecing together fragments of a past long forgotten.

Takeshi's heart sank as the memories came rushing back. The events playing out before his eyes, like shards of a broken mirror, reflected a childhood he had buried deep within. His parents, both detectives, had died under mysterious circumstances. The case had remained unsolved, the truth hidden away in the shadows.

Had Takeshi unknowingly stumbled upon a twisted web of deception and betrayal? Was his pursuit of this criminal somehow connected to the truth behind his parents' deaths? The answers seemed tantalizingly close, like the final pieces of a puzzle waiting to be uncovered.

Determined to find the truth, Takeshi delved deeper into the case, following a trail of breadcrumbs scattered across the city. Each step brought him closer to the heart of the mystery.

Days turned into weeks, and Takeshi's obsession consumed him. He became a man possessed, his every waking moment consumed by the need to unravel the truth. Sleepless nights blended into bleary-eyed mornings as Takeshi found himself engulfed in a dark underworld he never knew existed.

As he dug deeper, he uncovered a vast network of corruption and deceit, reaching far beyond the criminal he had arrested. The tendrils of this conspiracy wove through the highest ranks of society, threatening to shatter everything Takeshi held dear.

But he wouldn't be deterred. Takeshi was a force to be reckoned with—a detective with a purpose. With each revelation, he grew more determined to bring those responsible to justice. The stakes were high, the danger lurking around every corner, but Takeshi was undeterred.

As he peeled back the layers of this twisted tale, Takeshi realized that the truth of his parents' deaths was entangled with the crimes committed by his doppelgänger. The man he had arrested was more than just a criminal—he was a key to the dark secrets that had plagued his past.

Finally, the moment arrived when Takeshi stood face to face with the man who had haunted his thoughts for months. The doppelgänger, the criminal, the one who shared his face and his blood, revealed the truth with a chilling grin.

"What do you want?" Takeshi demanded, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and fear.

"Oh, Detective Takeshi," the man taunted, his voice dripping with malevolence. "I think you already know the answer to that."

As the plot thickens, Takeshi realized that he had only scratched the surface of a much larger conspiracy. The puzzle pieces were falling into place, revealing a shocking truth that threatened to destroy everything he held dear. The final battle was about to begin, and Takeshi was prepared to do whatever it took to find justice and reclaim his past.
