Atyr's Resilience

I had been training with the Jedi for almost six months before I went on my first mission.

We were to go to a planet called Atyr, a small little nook in a much larger galaxy that was deemed important enough for us to defend.

"It's not our fault," one of my Masters, Master Kyo said, "The Sith has been weakened by their civil war and we must do what is necessary to protect the Republic."

I looked around at the others. People from all walks of life with all kinds of skills were gathered here. Some were scholars, some were engineers. Others had no real skill at all other than being good in combat. We were a special group of soldiers who would go where others wouldn't, fight where others couldn't.

All of us were chosen by the Jedi Council because we were strong in the force, capable of defending ourselves and those we swore our lives to protect. Each one of us was given a special crystal to control our ships when we teleported to another planet. It was supposed to land us right next to the local militias but everyone knew there was risk involved with teleporting so close to enemy forces. Things could go wrong and you could end up somewhere else entirely or worse dead. That's why there were only two masters accompanying us on this mission, Master Kyo and Master Tuskan.

As for me, I was a padawan apprentice under Master Kyo, learning as much as I can so I can follow in his footsteps as he fulfills his destiny as a powerful Jedi Knight. Master Tuskan was a great friend of his although they disagreed often on how best to train their students in the ways of the force. He is an experienced master however and together they made a formidable pair unlike any other that resided on Corusant or any other stronghold for that matter. They said it was time for them both to take action again against the Sith and their deep space empire after years of sitting back and watching from afar as innocent people died just because they happened to live near the Imperial borders. Those people didn't ask for this war yet they suffered from it nevertheless whether by random bombings or forced conscription into either side's army it didn't really matter which side did it. The Sith Empire existed because it had learned to thrive on suffering many years ago and now they found themselves enjoying creating more suffering for anyone who dared defy them. This made them unworthy enemies according to Master Kyo who believed he would be able to stop them once and for all if he could get close enough.

A few hours later we arrived at Atyr where we landed only two klicks away from its capital city where we met up with their local militia leader a man named Gavro who looked like he had seen better days with his ragged beard and missing teeth yet spoke with such wisdom one might think him old beyond his years instead he looked very young still in his 20s perhaps but his experience gave him an aura most couldn't understand. We told him our plans and then prepared ourselves for battle with whatever forces awaited us ahead.
