“FAIR!”
The crowd roared as I raised my sword over my head, looking to the heavens. A small smile spread across my face as I thought of what it must be like up there. The gods. After all these years they finally paid for their crimes and now we finally had a chance at peace.
I stood high atop the steps of the great temple, looking out at the city below me. A smile spread across my face as I took it in, happy to see that everything was as it was meant to be. My people were free and flourishing once again, and with this new era of peace between us, I knew that our future would be bright.
I looked back up to the sky, hoping to catch another glimpse of the gods, but they were nowhere to be found. It didn’t really matter though; they were gone and they weren’t coming back. Not this time. They could keep their greedy hands off my world now that they had been taken down a peg or two. Everyone deserves a chance at a happy life, no matter where you come from or who your parents are. That’s how I wanted things to be here on this planet, Minos; no more rulers and slaves anymore. We’re all just people here and everyone deserves a shot at happiness whether you live in the palace or on the streets.
I turned from the crowd to look behind me at Iris who was standing beside me on the steps of the temple, giving her a warm smile before turning back to look out at my people who cheered for me below. She smiled softly back at me before turning her eyes down towards her feet where her hand was resting against her belly which was starting to swell with child once again after having given birth not too long ago. She had told me she hadn’t planned on having another baby yet so soon after the first one, but I insisted that she take whatever time she needed to rest after all she had been through lately to help heal my people and bring down the gods that had occupied our planet for so long, but then she surprised me when she said she wasn’t tired of being a mother yet and that she still wanted more children despite having such an exhausting job as a healer.
I turned back around and continued to watch the cheering crowd with a smile on my face as Iris put her hand on my arm and gave it a light squeeze before walking over towards Soren who was standing by himself off to the side behind us, his eyes glued on something in front of him as he stared ahead with a solemn look on his face. He seemed so sad since returning home from helping me bring down his own father Vastor as well as his brother Nivin after hearing about their terrible deeds during their reign over our planet from what he told us when we reached Minos after our journey through space together aboard his ship called The Tempest which he had built himself using parts he salvaged from other ships along his travels through space when he ran away from home because his father blamed him for destroying their family name by traveling around space without them because he despised what his son had chosen to do with his life rather than follow in their footsteps and join them in their quest for power and glory among the stars without having any respect for what he believed in and what he wanted out of life which is why I always admired him so much for doing what he believed in even if it meant breaking away from his family and being cast aside by them because they couldn’t understand him or accept him for who he is which made him even more special because everyone should be accepted for who they are instead of being judged for it because that’s not fair especially when you don’t even know anything about someone else besides their looks or what you’ve heard about them before taking into consideration all of the good things about them before deciding whether you like them or not which is why it bothered me so much especially after finding out that he was Vastor’s son who led us into battle against his own father during our war with the gods which is why I want everyone here on Minos to treat each other equally regardless of where they come from or who their parents are because everyone deserves a chance at happiness whether you live in the palace or on the streets like I said earlier which is why I hope no one judges Soren unfairly now that we have returned home again where things have finally settled down again after we brought an end to Vastor and Nivin’s rule here on Minos…
