The room was dark and the only light came from a small lamp that illuminated the dimly dressed woman. She sat in her chair, still as a statue, reading the book in her hands. He didn’t know what it was about, but he could tell she was enjoying the story. The subtle movements of her lips and fingers as she turned the pages told him that.

He had been watching her for hours now, ever since he clocked out at work. He knew he wasn’t supposed to be here, and if anybody found out he would be fired immediately. That thought made him sick to his stomach. He hated his job and hated having to leave her to go back there every day.

After a few more minutes of silence and reading, she finally opened her eyes, looked down at the page, then closed it with a satisfied smile on her face. She placed the book down on the table next to her and picked up the glass of water sitting beside it before taking a long drink from it. She let out an audible sigh when she put down the glass and leaned back into her seat.

His heart swelled with love for that sigh and for her when she leaned forward again and reached for her phone on the table. Her long hair was tied up in a ponytail tonight; he liked that look on her even though he preferred it down because it showed off more of her beauty. She pushed a few buttons on her phone before looking over at him with a smile.

“Thirsty?” she asked as she got up from the chair and walked towards him, “I can make you some tea if you want…it’s no trouble!”

He shook his head slightly but felt himself smiling back at her anyway - even though people always said he wasn’t good at showing his emotions…he could never hide how much she meant to him. She noticed how he smiled instead of answering and laughed happily before heading back to the kitchen to get started on making their tea.

They didn’t talk sometimes when they were together like this; instead, they would sit across from each other in silence while sipping their drinks quietly or sometimes they would just listen to music or watch tv together without saying anything…but tonight felt different somehow…maybe because this was one of their first times meeting up after such a long time apart? Or maybe because something else was on his mind tonight? Either way, he knew something had changed between them today after all of this time together…something big…and it made him feel nervous but also excited at the same time. He wanted to talk to her about it…but how? How did you talk to someone your whole life without ever speaking directly to them? It seemed impossible!

He tried desperately not to think about these things too much anymore because being around her made everything better…but even still…he couldn't help but wonder what else there could be between them besides just friendship? After all this time together...how close really were they now anyway?

As if sensing his thoughts or knowing exactly what he was thinking about, she took notice of him staring at her with those unreadable eyes of his before putting away their tea supplies back into cabinets or taking off her shoes. When she finished putting everything away she walked over to where he was standing by sitting down next to him on the couch so that they were facing each other now - almost knee-to-knee in fact!

She had already taken off those black heels of hers earlier that night so that meant they were only about an inch taller than each other now...which is weird considering how short most people thought he was anyway! It made him feel happy though, because she was always trying hard not to tower over him while they were together - even when they were dancing together! And that made sense anyways since dancing right now would be too much for them tonight...they hadn’t danced together like that since last year! But still…she did try hard with everything in order to make sure she didn’t make him feel bad in any way!

Anxiousness rose from his stomach as he stared at her perfect face; so pretty and full of life! He loved everything about her…especially how kind-hearted she was! His parents weren’t nearly as nice as she was either - heck sometimes they didn’t even seem like real parents! He couldn’t help but wonder why someone as amazing as his mother gave birth to someone like himself; especially when somebody like her existed in this world - so kind-hearted and beautiful?!

These conflicting thoughts swirled in his mind, making him question his self-worth. It wasn't fair, he thought, for someone as incredible as her to be spending time with someone like him who didn't have anything special about him. Was there a greater purpose to all of this? He wished fervently for an answer, for an understanding of why he felt the way he did.

Never had he experienced such an emotional turmoil in his heart, full of questions and doubts about himself. Who was he in the grand
