Unforeseen Twisted Tales

I have been waiting for over four hours, and I’m not sure how long it will be before someone shows up. I don’t know why they haven’t yet, but the sun has already gone down, and I am starting to get nervous. They have never left me here this long before.
There is a soft glow in the distance, like someone has walked into a room that had been dark for hours. It looks like one of those old fashioned streetlights, but there are no buildings around here. There is nothing but asphalt and dirt for miles, save the single gate in front of me. The light burns into my eyes as I squint to see if anyone was around.
I can barely make out a silhouette at first; it seems to dance in front of the light like a figure of smoke. As it comes closer, my eyes focus on the outline more clearly. It’s someone I recognize. A man with thick glasses and a friendly smile. A man that has taken me here every time before this, and only this.
The gate opens itself slowly, creaking like an old door with rust in its hinges. The man steps in through the gate and starts down the gravel path towards me. He walks slowly, looking at his feet as he goes, until he is right in front of me. He reaches into his pocket for something and pulls out some candy wrapped in purple foil paper with little stars on it. He hands it to me with a grin and asks how my day has been so far. I take the candy from him without saying anything and stare at the ground myself, avoiding his gaze as he looks at me expectantly.
“I’m going to need your help today, George,” says the man with a sigh when I don’t say anything back to him “we have some people that would like to speak with you later on today so please try to stay awake until then ok? We can make sure you get home tonight if you do ok?”
I nod my head quickly at his words; there was no point in trying to fight the inevitable anymore. If they wanted me awake then they wouldn’t give me any sleeping pills or tranquilizers until after they were done with me anyway so I may as well just do what he says. He smiles again when he sees that I am cooperating now and begins walking back towards the gate without another word to me.
The gate opens for him again as soon as he reaches out for it and once again it swings shut behind him when he is through it. After he leaves, however, the light flickers off and all is darkness again save for the moonlight shining down on me from above. At least this part won't take long now, though I imagine that there will still be plenty of waiting once things get started again tonight...
