Intergalactic Maze: Dimas and the Mysterious Murders

Dimas checked his watch, it was time. He had been waiting for over an hour and he was beginning to get nervous. But he wasn't nervous because of the meeting, he was nervous because of the consequences if he didn't deliver what he promised to this group. This group had been watching him for a while, ever since that particular case in the green nebula where Dimas had managed to find a serial killer who was stabbing people all around one of planet's oceans. That was a long time ago, they had probably forgotten about him but he knew better than that. They never forgot, not even when they pretend to forget.

Dimas was a detective with the Sol System Space Police Force. The job paid well but he only did it for one reason: to be able to afford the equipment needed for his personal projects. Dimas wasn't just a detective, he was also an inventor and a scientist. He always loved creating things and when he became a police officer he realized how many good tools were being made by criminals every day that could be used for good purposes. So he began stealing them and improving them, which made him very popular among his fellow officers - after all they got to use cool new toys all the time! But there was another side to these weapons that no one knew about, they all had a backdoor built in so Dimas could use them whenever he wanted to without having to worry about someone else controlling them later on. And those were the inventions that interested the group that had been watching him recently.

One month ago some other detectives finally caught up with Voldemir Rottentoot, or as everyone called him "Vlad", a criminal mastermind who had been terrorizing most of the universe for decades now. After a lengthy investigation they managed to arrest Vlad at last but their happiness didn't last too long because soon everyone was surprised by an announcement from Vlad himself: He would escape from jail soon using one of his own devices and then start killing everyone involved in his capture until he reached Grand Judge Klojkotka himself! That's why Dimas received the message from this mysterious group asking for help and offering something in return for whatever information or invention that Dimas might have access to at the moment.

"Hey man." said Michael as Dimas walked into their meeting room. "How are you doing?"

"Much better after seeing your face Michael." said Dimas smiling widely at his friend who always felt like everything would be alright once they saw each other again after some time apart, it sounded silly but it always worked somehow! "So who is here today?"

"Everybody." said Michael unable to hide his smile any longer as well - even though it kind of scared Dimas sometimes how alike they could sound sometimes! "We're all here!" Michael continued while looking around at their friends: Nicky leaning on his chair with his feet on top of another chair; Mandy fiddling around with her tablet trying to figure out if her new app worked or not; Charlie sitting right next to her writing down notes about something on paper; Eric trying to distract himself from their mission by playing with some old gadgets; Jack... Jack wasn't there anymore actually, "Jack's on assignment." said Michael sadly as if remembering something sad - Jack had left home months ago after hearing about their plans and now no one really knew where he was anymore which worried everyone a lot considering that Vlad's deadline was just days away now!

"So... do we know anything new?" asked Dimas examining everyone's reaction carefully - this meeting meant more than just finding out about Vlad's whereabouts after all! Everyone remained silent for a few seconds before Mandy suddenly jumped off her chair saying: "No!" excitedly while quickly approaching Dimas carrying something in her hands. Before Dimas could even ask what she was doing she took out something small from her pocket and pressed it against one side of something else she held in front of Dimas' face - a second later there was an ear-piercing shrieking noise coming from the device she held up making everyone cover their ears immediately (except Mandy) but no one seemed surprised by her sudden outburst! In fact everyone looked like this sort of thing happened quite often around here!
