It was the start of calm and peaceful summer in post-WW2 Japan. Everyone was in high spirits - until an antiquities research team from Tokyo University came to visit a nearby village, disrupting the usual routine.
The team of researchers was interested in a mysterious relic that was said to be in the area, the legendary Fire Emblem - an ancient item said to possess great power. As they explored the area, their investigation shifted and changed direction when rumors started spreading about strange occurrences in the nearby forests, which the local villagers blamed on the Obake - a strange creature of unknown origin.
The researchers soon realized they weren't the only ones interested in the Fire Emblem. A fateful night, The Crooked Rat, an influence of the Obake, abducted one of the team members and shook the team to its core. The remaining team members united with a recently-arrived foreign refugee and his daughter as they set out to save their kidnapped ally. Finally, with the help of a small army made up of the local villagers and the fire of their will to rescue their teammate, they were able to locate the Fire Emblem and confront The Crooked Rat. In the heat of battle, their willpower shone through, and despite their awkward social skills and their undeniable flaws, the group emerged triumphant. Using the immense power of the Fire Emblem, the team was able to best The Crooked Rat and defeat the darkness that had festered in the forest, restoring peace and putting away the relic of unknown origin - at least, for the time being…
