The first time Salma saw the drone, she was in a crowded subway car. The train car had been packed with people, and small children, and even a large dog. So when the train stopped suddenly she was thrown forward into the person in front of her.

"Hey," yelled the person in front of her. "Watch where you're--"

The person's words were cut off, as a large drone crashed through the ceiling of the subway car. It was white and rectangular, with a long thin arm that held a camera lens. As debris rained down on them all, the train car was plunged into darkness as it's lights failed. For a moment, all Salma could hear was screams and cries from the other passengers.

"What the hell is going on?" She asked no one in particular, then realized that there must have been an accident outside the subway station. But what caused it? And why had none of them heard any sirens or announcements? There were regular checks for blackouts during a journey - but this seemed to be eternal darkness.

"Maybe we're under attack?" A man next to her offered as he tried to get his phone to work. "It's dead."

"No signal?" She asked incredulously.

"No signal," he confirmed with wide eyes. Then he turned to face her, "I'm guessing you have your phone working?"

She nodded and showed him her screen - it was indeed working fine and displayed 'no service' on its screen. He sighed in relief and looked like he wanted to hug her - but restrained himself at the last moment.

"So what do we do now?" He asked weakly instead.

"I don't know," she said shaking her head. The entire situation just didn't make sense to her - why would someone want to try and take out all communication channels? Why not just stop the trains? Why try to kill some people randomly instead?

Just then, she noticed something on top of the drone that rested precariously against the ceiling of the subway car - a blinking red light that hadn't been there before it entered their vehicle filled with people and water. It was near where she thought she remembered seeing an antenna sticking out from underneath it before it fell towards them but...maybe it wasn't an antenna after all?

She felt ill at ease because of how many questions this new information raised without answering any of them...but that wasn't going to help her stay alive right now so she decided she needed some answers first - starting with why they were so important enough to be picked up by this drone. Maybe they were in danger if whatever this drone belonged to returned or these people got away somehow? Maybe they could use their phones while they waited for help if they knew more about what was happening here? Or maybe they shouldn't use their phones at all...?
