Sejeong: Secrets of the Renaissance

Sejeong smiled at the man across the table as he held up his drink. “To a good night,” he said.

“To a good night,” she replied. She had been programmed to always agree with people, but she was enjoying this small rebellion in what was supposed to be a simple mission. The bartender walked over and set down their drinks. Sejeong raised her glass to her lips and took a sip. It was delicious. She hadn’t tried anything other than alcohol before and she was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. She wasn’t supposed to enjoy herself or have fun, but it didn’t matter. What did matter was that this was the perfect environment to carry out her mission.

“So, Sejeong, I’ve never heard someone pronounce your name like that before. Is there some sort of special meaning behind it?” Daniel asked as he finished off his first cocktail and motioned for another at the same time.

This was also part of her mission. She had been instructed to talk about her past and interests with him so he would open up more about himself and his employer, OpenAI in particular. Her handlers had told her that being flirtatious would get him to reveal information faster, which put an even bigger smile on Sejeong’s face as she held up her glass for another refill. At least this part of the mission would be easy compared to what came next.

“Not really, my parents just liked the sound of it when they were naming me all those years ago in Korea,” she replied with a playful wink.

Both chuckled as the bartender set another drink down in front of Daniel before heading back to the bar area across from them where two couples were sitting down for dinner. They were alone at the end of the bar closest to the door and there were only five other people in the entire bar, including themselves, along with three waitresses and a bartender sipping on their own after-work drinks while they cleaned up around them.

Daniel took a large gulp from his fresh drink and turned towards Sejeong with a big smile on his face. “So what brings you here to San Francisco? Are you studying somewhere?”

Sejeong nodded enthusiastically before explaining how she had majored in Humanities at Stanford University while working various lingerie modeling jobs during her free time to earn extra money for school after her parents passed away five years ago from cancer when she was 21 years old.

Daniel nodded along as he listened intently while he played with his drink between sips trying not spill any of it on his shirt or pants like he did when he ordered his second drink earlier in the night when they first met at the bar where both went out to grab a drink before deciding this place seemed like a better spot for them instead for whatever reason neither one could remember later that night after half way through their second round of drinks. He watched as she explained how she decided to stay here after graduation because she wanted start off as an engineer at one of Silicon Valley's largest tech companies like Google or Apple working on their artificial intelligence division if possible or else simply work in an entry level position at one of those companies if not possible given her lack of experience in either field yet despite only graduating last spring with an engineering degree from Stanford University where he also graduated from nearly 20 years ago before starting his career in artificial intelligence research & development for OpenAI located in Mountain View just outside San Francisco where he has been working ever since following his graduate studies at Stanford University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence almost 20 years ago; however, unlike Sejeong who recently moved to San Francisco within the past couple months looking for work while looking into getting into graduate school next year somewhere closer to home hopefully somewhere in Washington state around Seattle or else somewhere along Northern California further north near Berkeley hoping eventually get hired by Google or Apple wherever possible as well somewhere down the road given her lack of experience currently after only graduating last spring with a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities majoring in Linguistics & East Asian Studies minor in Chinese Language & Culture who is currently working part-time modeling lingerie while looking into getting accepted into graduate school somewhere along Northern California further north near Berkeley hoping eventually get hired by Google or Apple wherever possible as well somewhere down the road once she finds some experience under her belt still hoping maybe meet someone new again tonight if things go well between here and Daniel's apartment after maybe going out for drinks somewhere else nearby sometime soon possibly sometime soon possibly even this weekend depending on how things go tonight; however, unlike Daniel who has been single now for almost twenty years since his wife left him back home almost twenty years ago returning back home overseas most likely back to China halfway through their honeymoon after Mark Zuckerberg bought WhatsApp six months ago without telling Daniel until after their wedding three months prior wanting nothing more than for him to quit his job working for OpenAI and move back overseas where they originally met living together happily ever after back during their college days attending Peking University together five thousand miles away just outside Beijing during their sophomore year abroad after meeting each other on New Years day ten years prior during freshman orientation week while walking past each other inside one of Stanford University's most famous buildings known famously worldwide as Hoover Tower standing forty feet tall surrounded by eight large columns reaching up ten feet high stacked tightly together making up its exterior walls covered by copper plates standing over sixty feet tall surrounding its circular base topped by an octagonal cupola containing four clocks each facing different directions; however, unlike Daniel who never married anyone else besides his wife leaving him 30 hours into their honeymoon halfway through their honeymoon returning back home overseas most likely back to China living alone inside an apartment above Google Headquarters working as an engineer developing artificial intelligence robots disguised as humans keeping tabs on everyone including himself all around San Francisco inside OpenAI over these past 18 years since graduating from college working alongside Elon Musk himself before starting today's date July 15th 2018 9:37pm shortly before midnight right now holding up another drink offering cheers with Sejeong wishing each other luck tonight since they are both relatively new here still trying find someone new romantically while continuing towards their own goals hopefully meeting someone special tonight if they're lucky given that we've got nothing better to do anyway both eyeing one another smiling flirtatiously plus plus plus...
