The Alluring Clutches of Klara

I don't even know how it started. I was just at a party, getting wasted on cheap beer, talking to a cute girl, when this other girl walks up and starts flirting with me, like she owns me or something. The one I was talking to tries to disappear into the crowd, but this other girl follows her and grabs her arm.

"Hey you, what are you doing with my boyfriend?"

Boyfriend? What? I didn't even know this girl's name! Or what she looked like! She could have been anyone!

But before I could say anything, the first girl says "Your boyfriend? That's rich!" and starts yanking her arm away from the second girl.

The second girl looks at her with venom. "Well then, if he's not your boyfriend, why don't you get your slutty hands off him?" And she yanks on my arm as well.

The first girl lets go of my arm and steps back. "You think because you're dating some loser football player that you can just walk over here and try to steal my guy?" She turns to me and says "Don't think I haven't seen the way you've been looking at her. You think I'm stupid?" She looks back at the second girl. "We've been together for three years now, so yeah, he probably has been looking at other girls." She takes my hand in hers and squeezes it hard enough so that it hurts a little bit. "But he's only cheating with you because he knows I wouldn't care." She looks back at me again. "Right baby?" She gives me a quick kiss on the cheek while glaring at the other girl.

My head is spinning a little bit from the beers and all of this drama. I look back and forth between these two identical women who are now arguing about--wait a minute. They look exactly alike! And they're dressed identically too! Are they twins?! My mind started racing through all sorts of possibilities for why that might be true: two sisters / co-workers / roommates / whatever else people do when they're around each other all day long every day for years on end.

When did they start looking so similar? When did they dress practically the same? Did they used to dress differently? Did they even used to be friends? Is there more going on here than I realized?

I must have been staring because she suddenly squeezed my hand again, harder this time. "Are you paying attention?" It was the first girl again. Her voice sounded angry but also kind of...excited? Like maybe she liked the fact that I was paying attention to her instead of this other girl after all?

"I'm sorry," I said quickly. "I couldn't hear what you were saying over all of these people."

She let go of my hand and gave me another quick peck on the cheek like she had just done before. "Oh sweetie," she said sweetly. "You're always going to be paying attention to me while we're out together."

"Is that right?" The other girl seemed genuinely annoyed by this turn of events. "How do you plan on making him pay attention to you when we're out together?"

She leaned in close to whisper in my ear and whispered something so hot that it almost made me lose control right then and there but also made me realize that there was no way we were ever going anywhere alone together where we could get busy without being interrupted by someone else or having someone walk in on us or something else equally embarrassing happening that would make our current situation even worse than it already is! "Trust me," she said quietly so no one else could hear her but with a hint of confidence in her voice like she knew everything was going to work out perfectly for us both because if nothing else we were both trapped in whatever weird situation we had gotten ourselves into against our will thanks to her evil genius brain working behind the scenes here somewhere...
