Unraveling The Organization
·
Published 6/3/2023In a dystopian Australia's future, ever-resourceful Detective Jake Hong, forced to work alongside the ironically mischievous intern Brinill, must use their emotionally charged connection to decipher the perplexing web of murders surrounding the darkly enigmatic Organization -- or risk being consumed by its malevolent intent.

[As Detective Hong ranted on about how incompetent Brinill was compared to all his other friends who could think for themselves better than him, Brinill stood there quietly fidgeting with his fingers nervously before finally breaking down into tears.]
"Damn it, Jake. Couldn't you have waited until after work hours before starting your drinking binge today?" Brinill thought miserably as he sat down beside him on the couch and patted him gently on his back. After several minutes passed, Detective Hong had calmed down enough where he could speak normally again.
*sigh*
"Hey Jake, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, honey. Just tired from all this investigating, I guess. All these damn clues are really starting to add up now, don't you think?"
"Sure are, Jake!" Brinill responded happily as he pulled some crumpled up papers out from underneath himself and handed them excitedly towards Detective Hong who took them slowly while trembling slightly. He looked through each one carefully, studiously examining every piece of evidence written on each page, painstakingly making sure not to overlook any single detail.
Suddenly, *BANG BANG BANG*! A gunshot rang out from outside their window, startling them both. Their hearts raced frantically before going still cold as death, instantly sending shivers throughout their bodies. In that moment, their adrenaline levels surged, triggering their fight or flight instincts. They simultaneously dashed towards the window, dragging each other along behind them until eventually making their way outside onto the sidewalk.
There, they hugged each other tightly, desperately clinging onto each other for dear life as they peered off into the distance, trying to regain their composure after the sudden blast had shocked them so badly. "Damn it, Jake! Why did we have to move apartments again?! Did we have noisy neighbors before or something?! This place is too damn loud – we'll have to work around this issue somehow. Maybe next time we'll try living somewhere quieter."
After taking a deep breath, they decided it was best to get themselves cleaned up back inside, or else they would be late for work the next morning. "You know how stressed out Mr. Wong gets if we're late again," Brinill reminded Detective Hong.
The two walked back inside arm-in-arm, where they scrubbed themselves clean using sanitary wipes until they were sparkling clean. They then dressed in their matching uniforms, put their hair into buns bound tight against their heads using flowing ribbons tied tightly around their necks, and grabbed their weapons which consisted of various investigative tools needed for their work as detectives.
