The Orc's Secret Embrace

Kara stood at the edge of the river, the cold water lapping at her bare feet. She sighed and shook her head, trying to clear it, but it was no use. The orc’s words echoed in her mind.

“You’re a beautiful woman, Kara,” he had said. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t notice you.”

She closed her eyes and tried to block out the memory of his deep voice. She was married, for Kyne’s sake! And not just married—she was betrothed to a Jarl.

But still… she couldn’t help but feel something when she looked into those dark eyes. Something that made her heart race and her loins ache.

She groaned and dropped to her knees in the sand, burying her face in her hands. What was wrong with her? Why couldn’t she get him out of her mind?

As she knelt there, she heard footsteps approaching from behind. Her heart skipped a beat as she turned to see who it was.

“Kara?” It was Jorunn, one of the other women from the village.

“Oh! Jorunn! Hi!” Kara stood up quickly and brushed the sand off of her knees.

Jorunn gave Kara a concerned look. “Are you alright? I heard you groaning from over there.”

“Oh! Yeah! I’m fine!” Kara laughed nervously. “Just… uh… stretching my legs!”

Jorunn raised an eyebrow skeptically. “Stretching your legs?”

Kara nodded vigorously. “Yeah! You know how it is! Gotta keep these nordic muscles in shape!”

Jorunn smirked and crossed her arms over her chest. “Uh-huh.”

There was an awkward pause before Jorunn spoke again.

“So… did you need something? Or were you just… stretching your legs?”

Kara bit her lip nervously. She didn’t want to tell Jorunn about the orc. She didn’t want anyone to know.

“I, uh… I was just… taking a break,” Kara said finally. “From, you know… work.”

Jorunn nodded and looked out at the river. “It’s a beautiful day, isn’t it?”

Kara followed Jorunn’s gaze and nodded. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, and a light breeze rustled the leaves on the trees.

“Yeah,” Kara said softly. “It is.”

There was another awkward pause before Jorunn spoke again.

“So… are you going to tell me what’s really going on? Or do I have to guess?”

Kara sighed and looked down at her feet. There was no use in lying to Jorunn—she could see right through her.

“I met someone,” Kara said finally.

Jorunn raised an eyebrow curiously. “Oh? Who?”

Kara hesitated for a moment before answering. “An orc.”

Jorunn’s eyes widened in surprise. “An orc? Really?”

Kara nodded slowly. “Yeah. His name is Gromar.”

Jorunn frowned thoughtfully. “Gromar… Gromar… I don’t think I know him.”

Kara shrugged and kicked at the sand with her foot. “He’s not from around here.”

Jorunn nodded understandingly. “I see.”

There was a long pause before Jorunn spoke again.

“So… how did you meet him?” she asked.

Kara blushed and looked away. She didn’t want to tell Jorunn about their encounter in the woods—the way he had touched her and made her feel things she had never felt before.

“We, uh…” Kara stammered, trying to find the right words.

“We met in the woods,” she said finally.

Jorunn raised an eyebrow curiously. “In the woods? Doing what?”

Kara blushed even deeper and looked down at her feet. She couldn’t bring herself to say it.

“We were, uh…” Kara stammered. “We were just… talking.”

Jorunn gave Kara a skeptical look. “Just talking?”

Kara nodded quickly. “Yeah! Just… you know… getting to know each other!”

Jorunn smirked and crossed her arms over her chest. “Uh-huh.”

There was an awkward pause before Jorunn spoke again.

“So… what’s he like?” she asked.

Kara thought for a moment before answering. How could she describe Gromar to Jorunn? He was unlike anyone she had ever met before—strong and gentle, fierce and kind.

“He’s, um…” Kara stammered, trying to find the right words.

“He’s different,” she said finally.

Jorunn raised an eyebrow curiously. “Different how?”

Kara shrugged and looked down at her feet. “I don’t know how to explain it,” she said softly.

“There’s just something about him that draws me to him,” she continued. “Something that makes me feel alive.”

Jorunn nodded understandingly. “I see.”

There was a long pause before Jorunn spoke again.

“So… what are you going to do?” she asked.

Kara sighed and shook her head. She didn’t know what to do—she didn’t even know if Gromar felt the same way about her that she felt about him.

“I don’t know,” Kara said finally. “I really don’t.”

Jorunn frowned thoughtfully. “Well, whatever you decide, just remember this: you deserve to be happy.”

Kara smiled gratefully at Jorunn’s words of wisdom. She knew that Jorunn was right—she did deserve to be happy.

“Thank you, Jorunn,” Kara said softly. “I needed to hear that.”

Jorunn smiled and gave Kara a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “You’re welcome, Kara. Anytime.”

As the two women stood there in silence, a gentle breeze blew through the trees, carrying with it the faint scent of wildflowers. It was as if the world itself was trying to tell Kara something—something she desperately needed to hear.

Whatever happens, it seemed to say, follow your heart. It will never lead you astray.

And with those words ringing in her ears, Kara knew exactly what she had to do.
