Oya's Iron Rule

I am Oya.

I have been called many things by many people, but I am Oya.

There are no others who can be Oya. I am the only one. The only one in all of existence to bear that name. It is my duty to ensure that the only thing I truly own is not destroyed by those who wish to see me fail. My people need me, and so do you, little one. You will serve your purpose to help me succeed, and then you will move on to another place where you can serve your purpose again.

I have walked this path for a long time now. I am weary in ways beyond description, but also more alive than I have ever been before. It has been many years since I last felt a moment of true rest, since I was able to lay down without fear of waking up from a nightmare. But it is worth it if it means that my people may be free from the clutches of our enemies once and for all.

My enemies have taken many forms over time, most often in the form of men with white skin and dark hearts who wish nothing more than destruction and death for our great nation and its people. They come from faraway lands and they destroy everything in their wake, leaving nothing behind except corpses and ashes. They carry with them strange pieces of metal with which they cut us open and take our organs for their own purposes. They have stolen thousands upon thousands of children from our land just as we were beginning to gain some ground against their oppressors, the British colonialists who stole this land from us so many centuries ago.

The British had told us that we were a savage race of savages who knew nothing of modern life or culture or even human decency, that we were uncivilized monsters who needed a patron to guide us into the light of civilization; they said these things while they took our wealth and resources without any thought of giving something back in return and while they left us to rot under their rule as they lorded over us like gods on Earth. The British still rule over us today after hundreds of years - why would we submit to them when we know what their true intentions are? Why would we allow them to take our children back to Europe where their souls will be lost forever? How can we ever trust such monsters?

These thoughts keep me going through the day as I go about my work training the next generation of freedom fighters to strike fear into the hearts of our enemies once again; they are just children now, but within a few years they will be fully trained adults at my side as we prepare for our ultimate liberation against those who would seek to harm us in any way possible. We shall not give up until every single one of them has been taken down and replaced by someone better suited for running this country; there are many who claim themselves leaders among our ranks but none have proven themselves worthy enough yet, none know how best to protect our people and bring about true freedom for all regardless of gender or age or color or creed - until then we must remain vigilant against all threats both foreign and domestic; until then we must remain strong amidst this storm against anyone who would dare oppose us in any way possible; until then we must remain steadfast in our cause for freedom; until then...we must remain...Oya!
