Atreyos and the Fire Giants of Inamorta
·
Published 5/30/2023Brave and courageous Lanzatonio warrior Atreyos embarks on a seemingly mission impossible quest to defeat the thunderous fire giants Griffon el grande and other formidable forces ruling the land of Inamorta, risking his own life in hopes of restoring justice and hope to the oppressed nation of Man.

The day started like any other, but it was nothing like Atreyos had imagined when he started his quest. He had been battling giants for so long, the thought of winning made him only wish for death, but this day he would make sure that didn't happen. He was no longer the boy who was told to kill all those he loved, just to prove himself as a warrior. No, he was a man now, and it took more than just willpower to keep going, more than just anger and hate to keep fighting. It took patience, will and courage.
*What if I die today?* Atreyos thought as he watched Griffon El Grande's army run towards him. *So many people died because of me... I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I let them down now.*
It took everything in Atreyos not to break down right then and there. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath; when he opened them again, he could see the hulking figures of several giants emerge from the cloud of dust that rose into the air upon his foes' arrival. The sun was shining brightly overhead and its rays glinted off the armor of every single one of these creatures. They stood there staring at Atreyos as if they were ready to devour him whole.
"You know what the best part about being a giant is?" said Griffon El Grande after what felt like ages of silence, "Being big and scary." He slowly walked forward with each word spoken until he was but an arm's reach away from Atreyos' face. "I don't even have to lift a finger," Griffon continued while flashing a wicked smile, "The very sight of my shadow on your face makes you freeze in your tracks!"
"That doesn't scare me in the least," Atreyos replied calmly as he pulled out the sword that was on his back and held it up high over his head with both hands.
"I can see that!" exclaimed Griffon before leaping backwards and laughing hysterically while pointing at Atreyos who kept staring straight ahead at him without even flinching once during their conversation. "But just because you're not afraid doesn't mean you're going to win! You're outnumbered tenfold! Your only hope of surviving is running away from here; you know what? Since you're still here I'll give you a chance to do that! Run for your life!" yelled Griffon before turning around and gesturing for his troops to charge at Atreyos who waited patiently for them at the centermost part of their battlefield: the land between two hills by the edge of a sea filled with monsters that ate anything smaller than their own size whenever they got hungry enough or bored out of their minds waiting for prey that never came.
The army kept charging at Atreyos as they knew they would do eventually if they let him live long enough but no one expected them all to be wiped out before they managed to make contact with him once again save for Griffon himself who stood where he had been standing moments ago looking rather confused with his jaw hanging loosely on his chest instead of clenched tightly shut with rage like usual when something unexpected happened around him.
"What... What did you do?" asked Griffon while feebly raising his arms up in front of his face as if trying to block something that wasn't there anymore from hitting him despite stumbling around aimlessly like someone who didn't know what exactly was happening around them or how much danger they were in. "Where did... How did..." He stopped talking midway through his sentence and simply stared at Atreyos in awe until finally collapsing onto his knees when two enormous hands reached out behind him from an equally enormous body which started dragging him away from their battlefield, leaving behind nothing but silence. Griffon remained motionless on the ground, twitching ever so slightly every now and then until eventually growing still.
Atreyos turned around when he noticed Griffon wasn't moving anymore and found himself face-to-face with another giant standing right behind him who quickly picked up Griffon's body off the ground before running away with it, holding it close against her chest as she ran past dozens of her allies who were also fleeing in terror towards their camp further away, cursing under their breaths.
With this victory, Atreyos realized that there were still many battles left in the war, and that true change would only come if individuals with true integrity would rise to positions of power and lead others in the right direction, not becoming tyrants themselves. It was their responsibility to ensure that wars didn't devastate humanity and put everything at risk. To prevent such a fate, they needed to be driven by something greater than anger or fear: they needed hope, courage, and strong convictions. As Atreyos prepared for the next battle, he wondered how many more lives would be affected but fueled by his commitment to making a lasting difference, he
