Rosara's Bravest Quest

The small, yellowish star in the sky seemed to be setting now. A few stars were beginning to appear. The sun was taking its time leaving the sky, it was a hot day and the long shadows of the trees stretched deep into the clearing that Rosara sat in.

She sighed and looked down at her hands, they were dirty from the clay she had been working with that afternoon. She decided to wait until tomorrow to wash them, she wanted to leave her hands exactly as they were right now.

"It's about time for supper." Said her father. He stood up and walked over to Rosara, he put his hand on her shoulder and crouched down next to her "You've been working hard all day."

"Like I always do." Rosara replied simply. She continued looking down at her hands. Her father turned away and walked slowly out into the forest, he left Rosara alone in the clearing.

The only sounds that could be heard were those of crickets chirping and frogs croaking in the dusky light of dusk. The sun had almost set now; there was just a hint of red colour seeping through where the sun had kissed the horizon. A few stars were visible overhead now, along with a crescent moon. It was a hazy night and clouds had begun to build up above the horizon, a thunderstorm would hit later tonight.

Rosara looked down at her hands again, she took one of them in both of hers and started digging her fingernails into the clay that had stained her palms during her work today. She dug deeper into the clay with each nail until she finally broke through it, revealing clean skin underneath; she had managed to scrape off all of the clay from around one of her fingernails. She stared intently at it for a short while before she sat back against one of the trees behind her and closed her eyes.
