Spellbound Lovers: Blue and Red

"Are you sure?"

I stared at the old man, wanting to scream. I wanted to throw a fit and lash out, but I was tired. I felt like I had been walking forever, days of travel and no sleep. I couldn't remember how long it had been since my last meal. The only thing that kept me going was the idea that I might see Red again.

"Will you shut up and just tell me? Is he alive?" My voice was weary. I could feel myself shaking, barely able to keep my eyes open.

"Girl," the old man sighed, "I don't know what's happened to him. But if he's still in the city, then he's in danger."

My eyes widened as I heard his words. He couldn't possibly be implying...no that couldn't be right! Red would never...he loved me! He wouldn't leave without saying goodbye to me! He knew how much my family needed me! We were supposed to get married...I didn't have time for this!

"Where are you taking me?" I asked, trying not to sound angry. The old man looked at me with a puzzled expression on his face, "What do you mean?"

"Where are we going? Where can we find him?" My hands balled into fists as I waited for an answer. "I don't have time for this!"

He looked at me sadly, "We're going home, dear."

I stared at him in disbelief, unable to comprehend what he was saying. We were going home? After all this time? Why now!? Hadn't we just left? Couldn't we see Red or anyone else who might tell us what was going on!? What did they expect us to do now!? Who would take care of my mother and father!? My sisters!? Why were they ending their training early?! After all of that walking and studying and spell practice...why would they waste all of that time if they weren't planning on keeping us around?! It wasn't fair! It wasn't fair! How dare they...how dare they make us leave now when everything was finally starting to make sense! When we had made so many new friends and discovered so many cool things about magic...it wasn't fair!!! They couldn't do this to us!!!
