Anahita and the Electricity of Life
·
Published 2/22/2023In Petron's bustling metropolis, spirited yet unfulfilled Anahita finds the liberating courage to take charge of her life by learning to master the 'rise and fall of electrons', earning her the key to unveil life's greatest secrets - and the ultimate happiness she had always been searching for.
The first time I met Anahita it was at a party in the city. A cute party thrown by some friends of mine and I got there early. It was a nice enough apartment, though the furniture wasn't really authentic or anything like that, you know? It was pretty much all fake made in China material but hey, you can't have it all right?
I turned my head to the right and saw this tall beautiful woman with a glowing face walking up to me. She wore a white summer dress that flowed in the wind as she walked up to me. Her long brown hair cascaded down her shoulders and covered her breasts in a very sultry way. She had these amazing green eyes that were sparkling and I could tell she was on something. She looked stunning. I couldn't believe someone so beautiful existed *here* of all places. You see I lived in Petron, an industrial city known for its factories and smoggy skyline, not exactly a place where you would find someone like Anahita.
"Hello," she said with a smile, "I'm Anahita."
She offered me her hand which I took immediately in my own. Her skin felt soft against mine and her hand was warm. Everything about her seemed warm from her smile to her eyes, she exuded warmth and kindness especially when she spoke.
"Hi," I said, "I'm Sean."
I sort of stumbled over my words because something about being around this woman made me feel nervous and timid like some school boy who didn't know what to say around girls. Anahita just smiled at me as if nothing seemed unusual about how I suddenly became very quiet. Perhaps she could sense that there was something different about me because suddenly she whispered softly into my ear: "You're safe here."
"What?" I asked confused but without moving away from her or letting go of her hand. Somehow her presence calmed me down and relaxed me even though we just met moments before.
"You're safe here," she repeated with a smile as if reading my thoughts, "you don't need to be nervous around me."
Suddenly everything felt different around me and I breathed out heavily, almost relieved by her words. What was going on? Who is this woman? How did she know what I wanted so quickly? Was I dreaming? Is this all a dream? Suddenly she let go of my hand and took a step back from me seemingly sensing my confusion and disorientation at what just happened between us two moments ago now that she had released whatever hold on me she had been exerting since we first met each other's eyes seconds ago. Clearly she knew what do do better than I did since I hadn't thought about how to approach this stranger in front of me until just now when we were interrupted by another guy who came up to us asking who she was. Apparently he recognized Anahita because he mentioned something about knowing the same people as Anahita did or something like that but it didn't really matter because all those words lost meaning when they left his mouth because all I could do was stare at Anahita who was smiling brightly at both of us like nothing untoward had just happened between the three of us moments earlier and then again maybe nothing untoward *did* happen afterall because neither of us knew exactly what it was that happened between us moments before we were interrupted by this other guy so we just stood there awkwardly staring at one another until finally he went away and now we were alone again except this time instead of offering me her hand like she did before which I took instinctively without thinking about it too much because somehow it felt natural for me to hold onto this woman's hand like that and look into those green eyes that were sparkling for some reason or another but now when we were alone again for the first time since we met each other minutes ago Anahita shyly looked away from me for some reason or another which made no sense to me since clearly nothing untoward had happened between us two since we were interrupted by that other guy moments earlier so why would she suddenly feel shy now when clearly nothing untoward happened moments before? Why would she suddenly look away from me now when clearly no one else was around us anymore?
