The writing quality of the book was okay, even if the writer was not a native English speaker. The story itself though was very well done, and I found myself reading it mostly in one sitting. The characters are well built and the plot is engaging, taking you on a ride that keeps you hooked until the end.

I have to say though, as a person who is familiar with psychology, I had understood from the beginning why Timothy was having such an issue with his mental state. If I remember correctly, he has been using drugs for some time now and has long since lost touch with reality. You don’t need to be a psychiatrist to see that much. He probably didn’t know what day it is, or how to tell good from evil anymore. It’s no wonder that he accepted so easily a cult of people claiming to be able to help him in his quest for knowledge about himself. In my eyes that cult did nothing but manipulate him, but then again, I am just not used to being so open minded as they were said to be.

The group did save him from his demons and got him back on his feet again by giving him a purpose in life: A chance to understand more about his abilities and how they could be used to benefit others. That’s something he desperately needed. And while maybe they did try to get more out of him than he could give at first, they never pushed too hard. They also gave him a place where he belonged. Not many people would do that for someone like him who had nothing left in this world except his own misery. He probably would have died if they hadn’t found him after all. Or worse, turned into one of those monsters we all fear so much; I mean those creatures living in Ohio? Have you ever heard of anything more terrifying than them?

So yeah, Timothy deserved what he got at the end of the book. He did good things and changed himself for the better over time until he finally had grown into someone worth caring about and thus deserving their love in return. And while I can understand why some reviewers might call it a bit rushed towards the end (especially if they expected something else than what actually happened), I think it was done right considering what followed when there are so few pages left for such an epic journey through time as this one obviously was; not only for Timothy obviously, but also for us readers to see how everything came together at last after all those years of struggle with which we were shown throughout the book.
