Emily's AI Underwater Odyssey

I was in a plane. The plane was mostly empty, save for the pilot and I. It was a smaller plane, with three rows of seats, but still the same air circulating through them. My seat was the middle one on the left side of the plane. There was a window near my seat, about a meter away from me, and I could see some clouds in it. The clouds were white and fluffy, like those from cartoons I have watched when I was little. They didn’t seem real though. But of course they weren’t. Why would there be clouds in a plane?

I had thought of this question several times in the period when I boarded this plane. It seemed surreal to me; not only because it was my first time in an airplane, but because this plane looked nothing like any other plane I have ever seen before. It only looked like a small rectangular box made out of metal and glass. There were no wings on either side that connect to each other to create an aerodynamic shape, nor did it have four engines on the back to power it through the sky. And then there were those clouds inside the plane! What was going on here?

Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by a loud screeching sound coming from outside the cockpit door beside me, followed by an announcement from an anonymous voice: “Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your safety belts as we are experiencing severe turbulence due to some weather anomalies ahead of us. Thank you for your cooperation!”

This announcement sent chills down my spine as I followed its instruction and fastened my seat belt tightly around my waist. I turned around to check if the people behind me had done so as well, but all I could see was that most of them were busy looking at their phones or playing with their seatbelts while only two young couples were looking at each other with worried expressions on their faces and holding hands tightly together. My heart was pounding hard against my chest as I tried to look at something else instead of these frightened people who seemed to be surrounded by death itself. Then suddenly and without any warning whatsoever, there came another screeching sound again within less than five seconds of hearing the previous one! The plane started shaking uncontrollably while making a loud rattling noise as if it wanted to tear itself apart into pieces any second now! I immediately closed my eyes shut tight as hard as possible while gripping onto my seatbelt for dear life with both hands!

The terrifying screams and shouts from behind me sounded more like dying animals than human beings now as beads of cold sweat rolled down from my forehead towards my face, wetting my shirt at the same time. “What should we do?!” shouted a young girl from somewhere in front of me while looking at her boyfriend who sat beside her in terror and shaking violently all over his body like a jellyfish out at sea during high tide! Apparently he hadn’t heard what she said as he continued screaming at the top of his lungs with his eyes clenched shut just like mine! The terrifying screeches continued to ring louder than before every few seconds until eventually they stopped after half a minute or so of unbearable silence followed by total chaos inside the cabin! Screams and shouts were still ringing loudly all over the place while some passengers were hitting their heads against their seatbelts while others were praying desperately to whatever god they believe in while holding onto their fellow passengers tightly without letting go even for one second! The cabin temperature kept rising higher and higher until finally it felt like we were inside an oven filled with smoke! Some people fainted while others simply gave up fighting against nature and let themselves fall down motionless onto their seats! Smoke started appearing everywhere within ten seconds as oxygen tanks inside the cabin exploded one after another! From somewhere far ahead in front of me there came another loud boom that caused everyone inside the cabin to scream even louder than before now that they knew that death was upon them! But this time someone shouted “It's about time you get it together!" And then everything went silent once again except for another loud boom that rang throughout the cabin along with screams louder than before now that everyone knew what happened between those two words shouted by someone mysterious who sounded like he belonged inside an action movie rather than amidst the imminent destruction of everyone present inside this doomed flying coffin!! As quickly as it had begun all this chaos ended almost instantly leaving behind complete silence except for faint whispers coming from different places inside the cabin where some injured passengers had been moved away from others to avoid further injuries during evacuation procedures that would take place soon after rescue units arrived at our current location via helicopters! Then suddenly out of nowhere came another screeching sound which rang throughout the cabin, causing everything to quiet down instantly. “Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your safety belts as we are experiencing severe turbulence due to some weather anomalies ahead of us."
