Levi's Wishkeeper Adventure
·
Published 5/12/2023Desperate to get his wish, 18-year-old Levi Duncan finds himself negotiating with the Queen of Hell for a wishing book, stirring an unimaginable world of dark secrets, shocking surprises, and immense stakes.

I wish I could say that I could remember the day I became the butler of Lucifer with more clarity, but it was such a blur that one hour was exactly like the next. I would look up from my work and realize that it was already dark outside, or that my hands were bleeding, or that my lip was cut and starting to swell, and then I would go back to whatever task I was working on.
It had been two months since I had arrived in hell. When Jesus had given me the task of becoming Lucifer's butler, he'd warned me that the job was going to be intense. He'd described Lucifer as a demanding woman who needed constant attention. While most people would have taken that as a hint to get rid of her as quickly as possible, I took it as my duty to make sure she wasn't neglected while she reigned over hell.
"You can't treat her like another demon," Jesus had said. "She's special."
That had been enough to convince me to take on the challenge. Plus, there was the fact that the reward for completing my task couldn't be beat: an enchanted book that would grant any wish written in it.
I bent down to pick up another pile of clothes that needed washing when a voice pulled me out of my reverie.
"So how is it going?" God asked me with a smile. I straightened up and turned around. His white robes shined so brightly in this part of hell where everything was dark, making him difficult to look at directly, but his warm smile made me feel like he was someone you'd want to hug after a rough day at work.
"Pretty good," I answered with a shrug and an attempt at a smile before remembering how swollen my lip was from getting punched earlier by one of Lucifer's demons. God noticed my expression and winced sympathetically.
[You're doing great Levi!] he said through our telepathic link. [Lucifer will appreciate your hard work.]
I felt myself blush at God's praise and considered taking a break before deciding against it-the sooner I finished with the laundry, the sooner the demons would leave me alone for the rest of today. "How are things here?"
[Oh don't worry about me Levi] God smiled again before replying [I'm fine.]
Feeling relieved that God didn't need anything from me, I continued my work until all of Lucifer's dirty clothes were gathered into baskets full of blood and grime from her day's activities, which included torturing sinners who weren't repenting and impaling unbelievers on stakes for funsies. After huffing for what felt like forever with the heavy load in my arms, I finally made it over to the river Styx where Hades' demons were waiting for their Queen's dirty laundry so they could wash it for her before she put it away again later tonight when she returned home from work. The demons were used to the job by now and didn't even flinch when they saw how disgusting all of her clothes were after a day in hell's heat when everything just seemed to get nastier by noon. They simply nodded at me and took the baskets wordlessly before disappearing into the depths of Styx where they began washing them immediately so they would be ready by bedtime tomorrow night when they'd need to be folded neatly again so Lucifer could put them away without accidentally folding someone else's clothes instead when she got home too tired after another long day at work where she got paid nothing because she owned hell so technically her time didn't cost anything anyway which is why Jesus can't figure out why everyone else wants money but no one ever tries to steal hers because then everyone would definitely steal hers because no one likes being paid less than someone else for doing exactly the same thing despite how unfair it might be because we are all human beings after all). Then* as soon as St
