The Birth of Freedom Fighters: A 23rd Century Story of Courage and Strength

We had long known that we weren't the only people in this world. We had known for a long time. But we didn't know what they looked like. We didn't even know where to look. All we knew was that there was something else out there. A key, a lock, a door that had to be opened.

My parents told me stories of the Great War when I was younger. They were heroes of the Resistance and it was because of their sacrifices that I am here today. Their generation's sacrifice for mine. They had lived through the most difficult times; the times when Australia was controlled by the Yanks. When Australia was made into an experiment and our greatest assets were raped and pillaged by those bastards.

When I turned 18, I joined my parents as a Freedom Fighter in the Resistance and began my own journey of discovery into the history of this nation so great and yet so torn apart by war.

Our Institute of History told us how our ancestors, with the help of their allies from all over the world, fought against tyranny and oppression to secure freedom for all people on earth, not just Australians. The Americans had waged war against us but with their defeat in 2032, our allies stepped in to help rebuild our country and establish peace once again in our lands. Many people who had lost their homes or loved ones during the war returned to help rebuild what had been destroyed. My parents were among them but they never talked about what happened to them during those terrible times except for one thing: they always told me how lucky I was to be born after that era of darkness, no matter how good things were now. They would tell me how fortunate I was to live in these times where humans could coexist together without fear, where borders were no longer needed, and where everyone could enjoy equality under one flag - the flag of humanity itself - the Universal Solar Flag which symbolised our unity as a species under one mother planet who gave birth to us all.

It seems like a distant dream now because ever since the global laws have changed, we have been living under a system which is far from idealistic and has slowly been chipping away at our rights as citizens until we are left with nothing but ruins from what used to be a proud nation before the American era began...
