I looked around and I was surrounded by huge trees. The sky was blocked out by the canopy of the trees, and very few rays of sunlight came through to the forest floor. The ground was covered in ferns and moss, and I could hear a babbling brook nearby. I looked down at myself and I was dressed in my favorite blue dress, but it was covered in mud, and my hair was tangled.

I had been running through the woods when I saw this meadow with a beautiful pond. I had gone running into the meadow, but then…my memory faded, and suddenly I realized that I didn’t even know where I was!

I began to walk through the forest, hoping to find an opening with some light or a path out of wherever this place was. After walking for what seemed like hours, I finally got to the other side of the forest.

I had never seen anything so vast in my life before. There were fields as far as the eye could see. In the distance were rolling hills; there were no trees or lakes at all! Just open fields with cows grazing here and there.

I smiled in relief; perhaps I wasn’t lost after all! It just took a little bit of courage to get out of that magical wood! But then my smile faded away. I didn’t recognize any of these places; maybe this wasn’t England? Maybe it was France or Germany? Or Switzerland? No…it couldn’t be any of those places…could it?

As if hearing my thoughts, a large black horse stepped out from behind a hill. He trotted up to me slowly, and stopped right in front of me. He lowered his head so that I could pet him on his nose. “Hello there…what is your name?”

His name? He wanted me to tell him his name? What did horses even have names for? Then it hit me; horses are from mythological times! Gods gave them their names! They were gods themselves! “You must be Pegasus! You rode Hercules through every one of his adventures!” The horse snorted happily at that; he obviously liked his name!

Pegasus nodded his head proudly, then he lowered his head down again so that I could scratch more on his nose. “I am Agathe…and you can call me Aggie for short if you want too!”

Pegasus nickered happily again and began to walk towards a meadow filled with beautiful flowers and butterflies fluttering about everywhere. He nickered again at me once more before he began nibbling on some leaves off of the tall grasses near him.
