Amalaia's Extraordinary Adventure
·
Published 3/28/2023With her fierce determination and poverty-stricken past, Amalaia embarks on an unforeseen adventure that tests her resilience and discovers her hidden talents when an intricate plot thrusts her into a challenging chain of events with extraordinary consequences.
A family of four was walking down the dirt road. The man, a tall and lanky fellow, with a patchy beard and messy hair gave an arm to his wife and led her forward. She looked frail, her skin was pale and her hair was brown and limp. Her eyes were dull and lifeless, she seemed to be in great pain. She leaned on him for support, but occasionally made a sound that indicated she was screaming internally.
The couple had a boy and girl walking beside them. The boy couldn't be older than ten, sporting short brown hair and dark brown eyes. He looked worried, probably as he noticed his mother's state. He held one of her arms while the little girl held the other. She was younger than her brother. She had long dirty blonde hair with blue eyes. She didn't look worried, but she also didn't seem to care about their mother's state either. Instead she gawked at everything around her with awe. The last thing they needed right now was a child screaming at the top of their lungs or crying all over the place because they were hungry or tired or scared. They needed to keep moving forward no matter what happened. They all knew that better than anybody else in this world.
They kept walking for hours on end until eventually night fell as it always did at that time of year. Sometimes it started earlier, sometimes later, but every day it came sooner than you wanted it to leave later than you wanted it to stay, just like all bad things in this world come sooner than you want them too but never stay longer than you want them too.
"We need to find shelter." said the man "or we'll die from exposure tonight."
"I'm pretty sure I already died from exposure." said his wife who laughed hysterically after she said it which made her burst into tears even more than before which is saying something because there are few things worse than seeing a woman cry who has nothing left in this world to live for anymore except two kids who don't know any better who must try their best to keep her alive by giving her whatever money they can so they can all eat just one more day out of this hellhole called life on earth where people hurt each other just because they want more power or money or whatever else they think will make them happy when nobody is ever happy here because what can be done now that everything is dying?
The man sighed and put his hand on his wife's back "Ella please calm down! We-" he stopped as he heard something behind him which sounded kinda like somebody whimpering... "Amalaia why are you crying?" he asked turning around to see his daughter kneeling on the ground sobbing uncontrollably.
"Long...hair..." sobbed Amalaia "too much...blonde..." she pointed at herself without looking up from the ground "not enough...brown!" she continued shrieking "looks ug-ugly!" sobbed Amalaia even louder as if she felt insulted by having blonde hair when everybody knew that brown hair looked much better! Nobody told her this directly but everybody knows stuff like that!
"Amalaia stop crying! We need to find shelter!" yelled Ella as she pulled herself out of her husband's grip and helped Amalaia up while rubbing the tears away from her eyes with one hand while trying not to fall over in pain "now follow me!" she said while limping toward a cave entrance half hidden behind some trees nearby which would do perfectly fine until morning when they could move on again like always!
