I awoke to the sound of a quickening heartbeat.

It was the first sound I remember hearing in my entire life. The first thing I ever became aware of, and the only thing that would ever be mine forevermore. I could feel it pulsing in my chest, though I didn't have a chest- just a little round belly and two small legs. I could feel it beating against my tiny body as it vibrated me back and forth with each thump. It was an odd sensation, but it seemed familiar to me in some way: as if this were the way things were supposed to be. As if I had always been this way, and always would be.

I opened my eyes slowly and stared into the darkness of my surroundings. From what little I could make out, it looked like the inside of a tree- or a hole, perhaps? Either way, it wasn't very big at all. There was something large above me on the ceiling of this place, but I couldn't make out exactly what. Whatever it was, it was too far away for me to reach with my short arms anyway. My stomach rumbled, so I squirmed around until one of my feet touched something soft on the ground beneath me. Something warm and wet- looking at it now, I'm guessing it must have been some kind of leaf or something. Whatever it was, it felt nice on my feet, so that's where they stayed.

A few moments later there was a rustle above me; then suddenly the loud sound of wood scraping wood as whatever had been blocking out the light above fell down around me! I stared up in awe at the dark figure looming over me on the other side of what now appeared to be a sort of crib or nest made from fallen branches and leaves. Black eyes like burning stars peered down at me from beneath heavy lids; antlers protruded from its head like great black trees with pointed ends, thin strands of moss falling from them like hair or feathers. A long piece of fabric that looked like a skirt hung from its waist all the way down to the floor, concealing its feet and legs from view; just below that on its chest lay a collection of shiny gold items with holes in them that clacked together when they bumped against each other as it moved. The most unusual part about this creature (or person? animal?), however, was its voice: not just because it sounded like rocks grinding against each other while being kicked across a field by dozens of people all at once! No... What made this voice remarkable was how quiet and gentle it sounded despite having such an incredible amount of power behind each word; how beautiful every syllable flowed together into one continuous melody that flowed through your ears and straight into your heart! "Hello there!" It said cheerfully; extending one finger towards me and reaching down towards my stomach: "How are you doing in there?"

I couldn't answer just yet, obviously- but somehow he knew what I wanted to say even before I had spoken! That's how smart he is! He understood what I needed without asking any questions whatsoever! He knew exactly what I meant when I said-

"Tabitha, I want to get out."

The fairy said nothing for a moment after hearing that- but instead just glanced down at where its finger had been touching my stomach earlier before looking back up at me again.

"Bellamy, I see you've met our guest," Daddy said. The strange creature turned around suddenly to face another even taller creature who had walked up behind him while he'd been talking to me! This new creature had much more hair than his friend- including eyebrows almost as thick as his knees! His face was also much larger than his friends', which helped hide his wide mouth full of sharp teeth whenever he smiled (which unfortunately happened quite often). Its voice was just as pleasant as his friends'- though not nearly as deep or powerful sounding: rather more high-pitched than anything else!

"Yes!" The new creature called out excitedly when he noticed Tabitha standing beside him: "What do you think? Isn't she adorable?"

"Oh yes!" She replied happily: "She looks just like a baby bumblebee!" He finished her sentence for her: shaking his rattling collection of golden objects excitedly while jumping up and down on his hind legs with excitement! They both looked happier than they had before... But why? Did they know something important about me? What did they mean by "guest"... And why did they both seem so happy about how cute I looked?

"Tabitha..." His voice grew quieter all of a sudden: although still cheerful enough for anyone within earshot to hear perfectly well...

"Can we go inside now?" He asked sweetly, winking mischievously at his friend as he did, knowing full well she wouldn't be able to say no.

"Ah..." She sighed reluctantly: knowing he would do whatever

it took to convince her. "Alright, Bellamy. Let's go inside."

They turned and walked towards what appeared to be a small cottage nestled among the trees. The cottage had a warm glow emanating from within, casting a soft light on the surrounding forest. As they entered, I caught sight of a cozy interior, decorated with delicate trinkets and filled with the faint scent of flowers.

Inside the cottage, I was gently placed on a cushioned bed made of moss and leaves. Tabitha and Bellamy stood beside me, watching expectantly as I took in my new surroundings. It was the first time I had ever seen an indoor space, and it fascinated me. The walls of the cottage were adorned with beautiful paintings of landscapes, depicting vibrant forests, serene lakes, and towering mountains.

Tabitha leaned in close, her voice filled with warmth. "Welcome home, little one. This is where you will grow and discover the wonders of the world." Bellamy nodded in agreement, a twinkle in his eyes.

As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, I began to learn and explore. Tabitha taught me about the secrets of nature, taking me on walks through the enchanting forest. Under the shade of towering trees, we would sit and watch as tiny creatures danced and played.

Bellamy, with his playful nature, would often transform into different animals, each more extraordinary than the last. He would take me on imaginary adventures, soaring through the open skies on the back of a majestic eagle or diving into the depths of the lakes as a playful seal.

As the years passed, I grew older, but my connection with Tabitha and Bellamy remained steadfast. They became my family, always there to guide and support me. They taught me the importance of kindness, love, and appreciating the beauty of the world around me.

One day, as I ventured deeper into the forest, a voice, soft and melancholic, called out to me. It beckoned from a hidden glade bathed in shimmering sunlight. Curiosity piqued, I followed the ethereal voice until I stumbled upon a clearing filled with blooming flowers of every hue.

In the center of the clearing stood a figure cloaked in wisps of mist, his silver hair cascading down his shoulders. A sense of both familiarity and mystery emanated from him. He smiled gently, his eyes reflecting the wisdom of ages.

"Welcome, young one," he said, his voice a soothing melody. "I have been waiting for you." I couldn't help but feel drawn to him, compelled to listen.

"You possess a special gift, a connection to the magic of this world," he continued, his words carrying a weight that resonated within me. "As you grow stronger, the power within you will awaken, and you will come to understand the true nature of your existence."

His words stirred something deep inside me, a yearning to uncover the mysteries that lay hidden within. I knew that my journey had only just begun, that there was so much more to learn and discover.

With a newfound determination, I turned to the mysterious figure. "Teach me," I said, my voice filled with an unwavering resolve.

He smiled once more, his eyes shimmering. "There is much to learn, young one. Come, let us begin."

And so, alongside Tabitha and Bellamy, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and magic, guided by the enigmatic figure who held the key to unlocking the true potential within me. Little did I know that this path would lead me to uncover the secrets of my origin and reveal a destiny beyond my wildest dreams.
