There was something about the crisp, early morning air that made Ryoga feel like he was at home.

The tranquility of the graveyard soothed him in a way that nothing else could. He had worked there for almost four years, and still, every time he woke up to this sight, it made his heart flutter.

As he walked down the gravel path in front of him towards the office, he felt truly alive. His first day back - which also happened to be his last day - had finally arrived.

He opened the door with a creak and saw that everything was as it should be: the dusty desk, the scattered papers on the floor, and an old chair on its side. The only thing that was out of place were three suitcases sitting next to each other near the door.

"Darn it." Ryoga sighed and put down his bag. "I knew I forgot something."

He walked over to the suitcases and picked one up but found it too heavy for him to carry by himself. After a sigh of irritation, he started dragging them across the room towards the closet where he kept all of his things. He opened up a suitcase and saw that everything was neatly packed inside: clothes, extra shoes, and even a mirror.

"I guess I'm ready then." He said to himself as he zipped up one of the bags and pushed it into the closet with his foot before grabbing another suitcase and repeating the process. When everything was stowed away, he went back over to his desk and sat down in an old creaky chair.

Ryoga looked around at all of the things that used to mean so much to him: an old calendar with pictures from scenic places around Japan; a picture of him hugging his sister on her wedding day; a stack of papers on which he wrote notes from what seemed like a thousand years ago; tiny carvings from various countries around Asia...

And then there was his journal, propped up against a box filled with pens and pencils. Ryoga picked it up, flipped open to today's date, and read aloud: "It's my last day at work today! I can't wait to see my friends again!"

"Hey... I never wrote this..." Ryoga sounded confused as he looked through older entries in his journal only to find exactly what he predicted: they were all written by him except one entry at some point in September that read "It's my last day at work today! I can't wait to see my friends again!"

He flipped through pages until he found an entry written by someone else that read "Please read this entry if you are reading this journal" followed by several rules for surviving your first night as a night guard at a graveyard:

1) Always keep your flashlight on when you're walking around at night! You may think you're going crazy, but trust me when I say there are spirits here who would love nothing more than to make you think that you're going insane!

2) If you find yourself bored at work (which I doubt will happen considering all those spirits!), try writing down all of your thoughts into your journal! That way, when you read them later on in life, you'll be pleased with yourself because you'll have accomplished something that humans have been doing since time immemorial.

3) Now onto something more important than writing things down: Don't fall asleep while working, no matter how tired you are! As we were taught in our training session earlier this week by Mr. Yokai, it is vital not to fall asleep, especially when he is near! If you do fall asleep, Mr. Yokai will insert something into your mind that will cause you immense pain, terror, and other detrimental effects! To remain awake, try listening to music, eating snacks or engaging in other activities that work for you. Additionally, never leave your post! You must be present for 24 hours straight, or else Mr. Yokai will take over your body on October 1st, which is tomorrow! If this happens, you'll perish (though not permanently since Mr. Yokai is immortal as long as someone keeps defeating him). Nonetheless, do not leave your post! Also, refrain from discussing Mr. Yokai with any other person who has worked here before; they might believe you're insane, and rumors might spread (even though everyone who has worked here knows about Mr. Yokai). Just avoid talking about him! Furthermore, do not write anything about Mr. Yokai in this journal! This warning may seem futile because someone will probably find this journal and discover Mr. Yokai's identity, but perhaps focus on reading other entries instead. One final note: Mr. Yokai is currently controlling me as I write this, so if anything appears strange or unrealistic, please disregard it because I'm most likely acting under Mr. Yokai's influence. In all seriousness, please adhere to these rules because they could very well save
