Secrets of the Sands: A Journey to Remember

The sand scourged the young girl as she ran, trying to escape her pursuers. She sprinted hard through the desert, her feet sinking into the soft sand with every step. The loose, grainy sand slowed down her pace and made it harder to run away, slowing her down so that the soldiers could catch up. Her breathing became more labored, and she was becoming more tired by the second.

The girl glanced back over her shoulder, seeing the men closing in on her. She looked ahead of herself again with determination, deciding that she wouldn't give up. She kept running as far as she could until she couldn't anymore. She stopped dead in her tracks and stood there panting while looking at the soldiers behind her.

"Go on," she said, "catch me."

The general smiled and ordered his men to go after the girl. The soldiers slowly approached the girl, their swords drawn and ready for combat. They raised their shields above them to deflect any attacks from the girl's small knife that she carried around with her.

"Drop your weapon," the general said. "You have no chance against us without your sword." He pointed to one of his soldiers who was carrying a broken sword from someone they had killed earlier in battle. The general took a moment to remember who he had killed to get that sword, but he couldn't bring up a name or face. It didn't matter anyway; the general only remembered killing those people because they were fighting against him. Now they weren't anymore so it was okay to kill them now that they were dead anyways. He shook off his memory and refocused on the girl before him. "You cannot win this fight without a weapon."

The girl stood there defiantly with a look of confidence in herself and defiance against them. "Then I guess you won't mind if I use my hands instead?"

The general scoffed at this idea. "You can barely hold onto your weapon smoothly when you are holding it properly! How are you going to fight us with your bare hands?" He started walking towards the girl while talking down to her. "You're just a simple farmer's daughter who doesn't know how to fight right!"

The group of soldiers joined their leader in mocking the girl as they walked towards her in formation, each one holding his shield above his head while holding his sword in front of him to protect himself from any attacks from the girl's knife while still being able t attack when they got close enough as well. The soldier closest to the girl spat on the ground at her feet before he charged at her with his shield raised above his head ready to strike at any moment and stab at her when he got close enough too; he closed in on her quickly and swung his sword at her head when he was close enough only for it too be met by the girl's knife blocking it before it could even touch her skin; a small cut formed on his arm where which he had been hit by the girl's knife soon after blocking it; this angered him further and caused him to swing again only for it too be blocked by the same knife once again; he continued swinging again and again only for it too be blocked time and time again by either his shield or by that same knife wielded by whoever was standing there before him now; all his swings were being blocked just like all of his comrade's were too; they were all getting frustrated and angry that they couldn't land even a single hit on their enemy despite how many times they attacked before finally realizing that they didn't want to do anything else other than leave this woman alive so they could pick off everyone else one person at a time like they always did whenever someone had tried something like this before when someone would try charging them head-on in an attempt to tackle them down or something similar like this; something told them that this wouldn't work on this woman, though; something told them that if she wanted too then she would've done something about this situation already because if there was one thing these men knew about fighting was that whenever you see an opening then you take advantage of it as quickly as possible otherwise you might not get another chance later on; however, none of these men knew what kind of person would stand there defenselessly in front of those who'd been trying kill them for years now after seeing how many times some of those very same people had tried doing just what these four men were trying doing right now but failed miserably each time before continuing their lives without any real fear afterwards despite knowing full well that their previous attempts may've worked if one or two things went differently on either side during those fights many years ago
