The Ending Rose

I never thought I'd see the day, but here we are. Rose is transitioning. He's become a man.

It's been a long journey for both of us. We've faced challenges and overcome obstacles that I never could have imagined. But through it all, our love has remained strong.

When Rose first told me that he was questioning his gender, I didn't know how to react. It was something that I had never really considered before. But as I listened to him talk about his feelings and struggles, I knew that I needed to be there for him.

We started going to therapy together and talking openly about our fears and concerns. It wasn't always easy, but it brought us closer together.

As Rose began to explore his identity more fully, he asked me to use male pronouns and call him by a new name - Liam. It took some time for me to adjust, but seeing the joy on his face when I used the right name and pronouns made it all worth it.

Liam started dressing differently, too. He cut his hair short and began wearing men's clothing. It was amazing to see how much more confident he became with each small change.

Of course, not everyone was supportive. We faced judgment and criticism from friends and family members who didn't understand or accept Liam's transition. But we also found an incredible community of people who were there for us every step of the way.

And now, after months of hormone therapy and countless doctor's appointments, Liam is finally having top surgery - the final step in his transition.

I sit in the waiting room, my leg bouncing nervously as I try to distract myself with a magazine. The minutes tick by slowly until finally, the door opens and Liam's surgeon appears.

"Everything went well," she says with a smile. "He's in recovery now."

I let out a sigh of relief as tears spring to my eyes. I can't believe that we've made it to this point. The journey has been long and difficult, but we've come out the other side stronger than ever.

I'm allowed to see Liam a few hours later, once he's awake and alert. I walk into his room and my heart swells with love at the sight of him.

He looks tired but happy, a small smile playing on his lips. I take a seat next to him and reach for his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"How are you feeling?" I ask softly.

Liam's smile widens as he looks at me. "Amazing," he says. "I can't believe it's finally over."

I feel tears welling up in my eyes again as I lean in to kiss him gently on the lips. "I'm so proud of you," I whisper.

Liam's eyes meet mine, filled with emotion. "Thank you for being here for me," he says quietly. "I couldn't have done this without you."

I squeeze his hand tighter, my heart overflowing with love for this incredible person sitting beside me.

"You don't have to thank me," I say. "I love you, Liam, and I'll always be here for you - no matter what."

A tear slips down Liam's cheek as he smiles at me. "I know," he says softly. "And I love you too - more than words can say."

We sit in comfortable silence for a moment, our hands intertwined, before Liam breaks the quiet with a small laugh.

"Can you believe that we survived all of this?" he asks incredulously.

I chuckle softly and shake my head. "No," I admit. "But we did - together."

Liam nods and squeezes my hand again. "Yeah," he says. "Together."

And as we sit there in that hospital room, surrounded by the beeping of machines and the scent of antiseptic, I know that we can face anything - as long as we have each other.

Because love is stronger than fear. And together, we are unstoppable.
