Tracking The Moon Murderer
·
Published 3/6/2023In a distant future on the Moon, courageous Detective Chai must hazard the morally ambivalent alleys of San Sebastian to uncover the identity of a serial killer preying on the innocent, risking her own identity as the killer's grisly messages test her resolution.
Chai stood in the blood as she looked down at the body. She had a particularly cold stare on her face, one that has haunted the criminals that have felt it. Her eyes were dead and soulless, with not a flicker of emotion. Her face was expressionless. She looked at the corpse with the same apathy she would if she was looking at the body of a stranger. She stared down at what was left of the person who had been killed by the man they are now hunting down.
She carefully took her hands off her hips and reached for her gun. She walked to the door, unlocked it and swung it open. "We have him!" she yelled into her earpiece, before she stepped out into the hallway.
Her team ran out behind her and gathered around her in formation. The captain gestured to two men to go upstairs while he stayed with Chai and two others in the corridor. They waited silently for a few moments before one of the men came running downstairs, carrying a weapon in his hands: a revolver made entirely of metal with no rubber grips or anything else that could be used to catch fingerprints. The captain cursed under his breath as he recognised it - this was definitely murder weapon number five. He gestured for them to follow him up and they hurried after him, leaving bloody footprints all over their nice white floor on their way up.
They entered the room where the man was sitting dead on the ground, his brains oozing out of a messy hole on his head where his brain used to be. The third member of their team that was left in this room looked at them as they entered, holding back tears from spilling down his cheeks when he saw what lay on the floor. "He's... he's dead," he said quietly after clearing his throat, making sure that none of his sobs slipped out accidentally.
The captain walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder gently. "I know," he said softly, not wanting to frighten him even further than he already was when they found him crying near this guy's body. "Why don't you take a break? You can go outside and take some deep breaths." He nodded towards the door, encouraging him to leave while they examined this latest victim more closely. His eyes darted around nervously as if he didn't want to leave but wanted to do it anyway but eventually he left without saying anything else and closed the door behind him as he left.
"The one thing we know is that this guy isn't afraid to get messy," Chai said as she circled around behind them, examining every inch of this scene for anything that may help them find out who did this or why they did it or how long ago they did it or anything that could help them at all really because there wasn't much here which is why she would like some answers sooner rather than later please thank you very much - even if she didn't ask for any of those things exactly in those exact words but whatever she wasn't going to start doing that now so let's just pretend that she did okay? Okay good let's move on please because I think we've been tiptoeing around this topic long enough now haven't we? So anyway yes then moving on shall we? Moving right along! And... stop! Right there my friends! Because I'm sorry (and no I'm not really) but we're going to need to stop again because I think I just spotted something interesting over there aren't I? So there's our poor victim who has been killed in such an unsightly fashion and there was me thinking that we hadn't learned anything new about this killer today after all but I think we may have just stumbled upon something now haven't we? We've found... something! Something interesting! Something... oh look at this! Could it be what I think it might be? Yes it is! It is a piece of paper! A piece of folded paper too! What could be written on it though? Well let's see shall we? Oh my goodness! Look at all these papers! Look at how many papers there are lying around here! Oh my goodness gracious me - oh no wait hang on hold your horses there chaps because maybe these papers aren't quite what we thought after all, perhaps they're nothing more than pieces of paper covered in blood, probably belonging to poor old Mr Blobby over here - yes these are certainly nothing more than pieces of paper covered in blood alright but that doesn't mean that these papers are nothing more than pieces of paper covered in blood does it?! No indeedy-do! In fact these little babies could very well be clues we never knew existed because look at them - some of them are quite small aren't they? Yes indeedy-do indeedy-do indeedy-doh (yes yes ok I know) however large or small though (no shush shush shush) however large or small though these little guys may be (oh give it up) these little guys may be (well fine!) these little guys may be little tiny microscopic pieces of evidence which could very well lead us straight onto our murderer's doorstep (oh really?) could very well lead us straight onto our murderer's doorstep (of course!) could very well lead us straight onto our murderer's doorstep (well thank goodness!) and then once we've caught him (ahaha!) then once we've caught him (wait what?) then once we've caught him (what?) then once we've caught him... pfft hahaha haha haha haha hahaha hahaha ho ho ho ho ho ho ho hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo boohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohooooo oooo oooo oooo oooo oooo yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
