The castle was so beautiful it made me weep. I didn't want to be here, but what choice did I have?

I was no longer allowed in the house of my beloved aunt and uncle. The day after I'd grown up enough to start my training as a doctor, they'd told me that my services as a nurse were no longer required. Not because I didn't help others, but because I had helped too much. It seems humans can live for decades with their organs failing and not an ounce of care from most around them. But give them any hope at all, and you'll be inundated with the sick and dying trying to get your attention.

It broke my heart to see them suffering, and I wanted to help them all. But when every family member is sickenly ill, you don't have time to care for anyone else. My aunt and uncle offered me a place in their home when I was young, so it was only fitting that now that they were old, I would return the favor.

But a strange servant arrived one day with the news that despite them needing my help more than ever, they didn't want me anymore. And if that wasn't enough, he also said that Isadora, the sorceress who ruled the kingdom of Moonreach, had given him orders that she wanted me as her new maidservant. What could I do? They were still my aunt and uncle after all, even if they didn't want me anymore. If they were good enough to offer me shelter when I needed it, then surely they deserved mine now that they needed it more than ever. So instead of helping those who still needed my assistance, I packed my bag and followed this strange catman into the castle of Isadora.

He led us down many long hallways until we finally reached a strange room filled with things I had never seen before. There were shelves stacked high with many different books and scrolls on various subjects ranging from science to poetry to history. There were desks with pens and paper set out ready for use by whoever wished to write something down or solve some problem in their minds using their own thoughts. There was an area clearly meant for cooking or alchemy where there were pots and pans of all shapes and sizes scattered across the floor interspersed with ingredients from around the world - some familiar to me like cabbage and carrots while others more unfamiliar like rare mushrooms from distant lands or spices used for making exotic dishes for royalty in faraway lands whose names sounded exotic themselves like "Saffron" or "Sundried Tomatoes." There was another section near the back of the room filled with musical instruments - carefully crafted instruments arranged by variety including lutes, lyres, harps, flutes, and more, which looked almost indistinguishable from each other except for their colors, which ranged from bright blue to vibrantly green along with other colors I couldn't name because they seemed so foreign to me like "Olive" or "Cinnamon," which could mean anything, really, since several people had given names to this color alone.

There was even a section dedicated entirely to weapons - swords of all shapes and sizes hung across the wall on display while others sat on racks beneath them waiting patiently to be claimed by someone worthy enough to wield them in battle against evil. Some weapons were dulled while others gleamed brightly as if recently polished in preparation for the next person brave enough to stand against whatever foe dared challenge Isadora's kingdom.

But the centerpiece of this room was at first glance hard to spot if you weren't looking for it specifically. The rest of the room looked busy - so full of things that it was hard not get lost within its maze-like walls even though you could barely make out any individual object among everything else surrounding you - but at least you could point towards some object in particular within all this clutter if asked where something specific stood within this chaotic collection of items.

But Isadora's room didn't look chaotic at all; instead, it just looked plain empty compared with everything else surrounding it in this seemingly endless library within her castle. In fact, the whole room seemed smaller than everything around it - as if everything else grew larger as time passed while this one spot remained unchanged without anything filling its space around it.

As we walked closer towards what appeared only to be empty space on first glance until we realized there really was something there after all hidden within its black emptiness - a small book atop what appeared to be nothing but air held down by some sort of invisible force keeping it pressed against a surface only visible when you knew where it actually was thanks to what surrounded it rather than what was directly underneath it - our guide bowed low before his master Isadora, who stood behind this book staring into its pages like she always did whenever she stood here while everyone else left her alone.

"My lord," he said, his voice only loud enough for us three standing closest around him - myself holding my belongings close

to my chest, unsure of what was expected of me in this strange new place.

Isadora glanced up from the book, her piercing gaze meeting mine. "Ah, you must be the new maidservant," she said, her voice melodic yet tinged with a hint of mystery. "Welcome to Moonreach. I trust you're ready to serve?"

I nodded, swallowing the nerves that threatened to overwhelm me. "Yes, Your Highness," I replied, trying to match her regal tone.

Isadora studied me for a moment, an unreadable expression crossing her face. "Good," she finally said with a nod. "There is much work to be done here, and I am in need of someone capable and dedicated. Follow me."

She turned and walked towards a grand staircase that led deeper into the castle. I hurried after her, the catman servant close behind me. As we descended the steps, I couldn't help but marvel at the opulence that surrounded me. The walls were adorned with intricate tapestries, depicting scenes of moonlit landscapes and mythical creatures. The grand chandeliers above bathed the hallway in a warm, golden glow, casting long, dancing shadows on the marble floor.

Isadora led us to a set of intricately carved double doors. With a wave of her hand, the doors swung open, revealing a vast, breathtaking garden. It was a sanctuary of nature, with a myriad of flowers in vibrant colors, their heady scents mingling together in the air. A babbling brook snaked through the garden, and there were stone benches scattered around, inviting moments of tranquility and contemplation.

"This is the Healing Garden," Isadora explained. "Many of the plants here possess medicinal properties. Your duties will include tending to them and harvesting the required ingredients for my potions and elixirs."

My heart skipped a beat at the mention of potions and elixirs. As a doctor's apprentice, I had always been fascinated by the healing power of herbs and plants. To be given the opportunity to work with them in such a magical environment was a dream come true.

But my excitement was short-lived as Isadora's tone turned stern. "Remember, the garden is fragile. The slightest misstep could destroy years of growth. I trust you will be careful."

"I will," I assured her, determination shining in my eyes.

Isadora nodded, seemingly satisfied with my response. "Very well, then. You may begin your duties tomorrow. In the meantime, familiarize yourself with the garden and its inhabitants."

With that, she turned and disappeared back into the castle, leaving me alone in the enchanting garden. The catman servant bowed and made his own departure, leaving me to explore my new domain.

I wandered amidst the blooming flowers, running my fingers lightly over their delicate petals, sensing the life that thrummed through them. I found myself drawn to a particular white blossom, its petals shimmering like starlight. As I leaned closer to examine it, a soft vibration tickled my senses, like a whisper in the wind.

Startled, I looked around, but there was nobody in sight. Curiosity drove me to follow the sensation, stepping lightly along the moss-covered path until I reached a hidden corner of the garden. There, nestled between two ancient oak trees, was a small fountain, its water crystal clear and cool. A single silver tear glinted at the center, seemingly suspended in time.

Bewildered, I dipped my fingers into the water, the coolness comforting against my skin. As I touched the liquid, a series of images flashed before my eyes—scenes of pain, suffering, and the desperate need for healing. It was as if the fountain itself was showing me the people who needed my help the most.

The realization hit me hard. Moonreach was not just a castle surrounded by wonder, but a place of true healing—a sanctuary for those in search of solace and restoration. And I was meant to be a part of it, not just as a maidservant, but as a healer.

From that moment on, I dedicated myself not just to tending to the garden, but to the people who would seek refuge within its walls. Whether it was a simple cough or a broken heart, I vowed to use the knowledge given to me by Moonreach itself to provide solace and healing to those in need.

As I stood by the fountain, basking in its gentle energy, I knew that Moonreach had become more than just a castle to me. It was my purpose, my calling. And with each passing day, as I tended to the plants and listened to their silent secrets, a newfound hope bloomed within me, illuminating the path ahead.

Moonreach was not just a beautiful castle; it was a beacon of healing, and I, its maidservant, would ensure that its light reached every corner of the kingdom.
