I was the only kid in our resort, so I was going to have to go down the street by myself. I was a bit nervous because there were no girls my age here and I didn't know any of the boys that stayed here, but they were probably all older anyway.

There was one family staying here, but they had little kids that played with me sometimes, but they weren't allowed to play on their own yet. But today would be different! Today I'm going to go explore!

I got up early, got dressed and packed my bag. My Mum gave me some money for lunch and told me not to walk too far. She said it would be easy to get lost here.

I thought about it for a moment and realized she was right. I mean, it's easy enough to get lost in our house back home, but this is different. This place is huge! It looks like a town from where we are staying and all the buildings are made out of stone. The sand dunes look like waves from the sea all around us. There's even a huge mountain in the distance!

I can't wait to see it all! So many new things to see and do! I go down stairs and out onto the veranda of our apartment. As soon as I step outside, a huge gust of wind almost snatches my hat right off my head! I grab it in time and tie it under my chin.

It's really windy today! The beach has waves crashing into it that look like they're trying to eat the sand dunes! Not only that, but the ocean looks angry today, like a monster ready to gobble me up if I'm not careful!! Oh no!! Maybe I shouldn't try to go down the street after all!!

I turn around and run back inside only to run straight into... My Dad? Where did he come from??? He says: "Where do you think you're going?"

"To explore!" I say excitedly. "You said yesterday it was okay!"

"Well..." My Dad seemed confused for a second, "Yes you can go on your own." He looked down at his watch and then said: "Just make sure you're back by lunchtime though."

"Okay!" I said as I turned around again and ran back outside, making sure not to run into him this time. The wind tried to steal my hat again, but this time I held on tight too it! As soon as I made it outside I took off towards the end of our street as fast as my legs could carry me.

As soon as I got close enough to see what was down there, something caught my eye in front of me instead! What is that?? It looks like an old style car or something parked in front of one of those big stone houses across the road from ours! I've never seen one before except on tv or in books!! Can cars even run on water? It's parked up in front of someone's house just sitting there like nothing is unusual!! Maybe they need help? Maybe someone is trapped inside because they don't know how to get out?

I quickly run across the road and over to where the car is parked up right next to it without stopping this time! Then I look inside the driver side window and see a couple people sitting there talking as if nothing is unusual either!! What kind of weird people are these?? If someone accidentally locked themselves in their car back home they'd be climbing all over everything trying to find a way out!! And if they couldn't figure out how to get out they'd just call 911 or something until someone figured out how to help them!! But whatever... these people probably didn't know any better anyway... Or maybe they don't even care??
