Jik's Mystical Journey

The sun was bright and the sky blue, and Jik's dress was white and flowing. She had heard it said that everything seemed brighter when you were in love, as if your eyes were suddenly filled with a magic light that made the world look more beautiful than ever before. Well, Jik wasn't sure she believed that; after all, she'd always loved the light. The sights of Kianka had never failed to take her breath away.

But she was in love today, and today she felt like the whole world was sparkling. The wind ruffled her hair, making it dance around her face, and a smile broke out on her lips. Her eyes were fixed on the boy walking beside her through the meadows of green, and he too smiled back at her. The sun glinted off his glasses as he looked down at Jik and reached out to brush a lock of hair out of her eyes. She laughed and batted his hand away playfully, then turned to look back at him again.

"I can't believe this is real," Jik whispered as they walked under a canopy of flowers that glowed with an inner fire that lit their faces from below. "I've been waiting so long for you."

"You've known me forever," he replied with a soft laugh. "We haven't really been apart since we met."

Jik shook her head. "It seems like a dream sometimes." She sighed happily and took his hand in hers to hold it tight against her chest, where it beat steadily under her palm.

They walked along in silence for a while longer, enjoying each other's company as much as they enjoyed the scenery around them. It did not take them long to reach the edge of the forest, but they paused there anyway to look around them at the rustling trees and the birds singing above their heads.

"Did you know," Jik began slowly, turning to look up at him with wide eyes full of wonder and excitement, "that there are people living here among us?"

Jik's voice trailed off into silence as she saw his expression. He looked surprised, then worried. His eyes darted over her shoulder and he swallowed hard before looking back down at her again and ruffling her hair lightly with his free hand, smiling crookedly as he tried to lighten the mood by joking around.

"That's ridiculous," he replied with a laugh. "People don't live here." He gestured around them at the impossibly beautiful forest surrounding them on all sides. "There's nowhere to live!"

Jik frowned slightly in confusion and reached up to squeeze his hand gently before speaking again softly into his ear. "Not just my family," she whispered conspiratorially. "Other people besides us! They're hidden away in caves or underground or something." She giggled softly at how silly this sounded even as she was saying it aloud; surely no one could be fool enough to try living in a place like Kianka! There was no shelter from any weather conditions whatsoever here; even now that they were well within the forest they could still feel a cool breeze brushing across their skin every few moments or so as the leaves fluttered together overhead in greeting whenever a new gust of wind arrived through some unseen portal high above their heads. How anyone could stand living here without being able to control the elements themselves was beyond Jik's comprehension! And yet...

Jik knew that these people existed all too well from experience; after all, despite what others might think about such an idea, she herself had lived among them for many years now - though admittedly not always in such a manner as this disguise implied! For most of her childhood she had gone about disguised as an ordinary human child so that she could sneak out without attracting suspicion; she had learned how to blend in with normal children on Earth during these excursions when she had first arrived on Kianka many years ago (and indeed there were times when it seemed almost impossible that she wasn't actually human!). But now... Now she had found someone who truly loved her for who she really was no matter how odd or strange or different from him that might make her seem! Not only did this boy love her despite how weird or alien-seeming she might appear - but he actually liked those qualities about himself because they meant he wasn't alone anymore! He had realized afterward just how lonely it could be no matter how exciting life on Kianka might be when you lived with only your own family members - especially when they didn't show themselves to others except behind magical disguises designed to keep them hidden from view! What would people think if they knew there were creatures who could shift into other shapes just for fun? Or who could open portals between worlds just by willing it? Or who could even fly? No wonder Jik's family members kept themselves hidden away so far away from everyone else! But now... Now things were different! They both belonged here just like everyone else did - but only because they belonged together! If only everyone else would understand that too - instead of thinking of them both as strangers who should avoid each other lest their differences cause problems within Kianka society...
