Taj and Telem's Galactic Quest
·
Published 5/13/2023Two fish detectives, Taj and Telem, from the Dihon Galaxy must use mystical powers and self-belief to stop a syndicate of crime-shark-lords from terminating them and exposing the intertwined web of corruption before it's too late!

The two goons were getting closer.
Blamshing through the water and accelerating towards Taj and Telem, who were running along the riverbed of a small tributary on their long-tailed fish bodies. They had no weapons in their hands, not even a can of mace. The goons could have been heading to their deaths, but it didn't seem like they cared, nor would they have hesitated either way. They wanted to get their hands on the duo, so they did. A classic case of "don't think, just do".
It was exactly what Taj and Telem had been trying to avoid for the past hour and a half: a confrontation with the goons. It wasn't that they weren't ready for this moment. It was that they'd been trying to avoid it all this time, because it seemed inevitable from the very beginning. Neither Taj nor Telem were expecting any different outcome than this one. Almost like it had already happened before or something--but that was impossible, seeing as how this was their first mission in Dihon Galaxy.
"Get ready," Telem said, adjusting his goggles and slowing down his pace a little bit so he could keep up with Taj who was leading them. "They're right behind us."
"I know," Taj replied, still running at full speed along the bottom of the stream, kicking up dust and sand with his tail as he did so. He didn't stop running too; despite what he said to Telem, he knew there was no stopping now. They would be pursued by these goons until both he and his partner met their fate: either being killed by them or escaping them for good--which is why he insisted that they run as fast as possible away from them.
He knew it was an unlikely scenario that any of them would be able to escape alive after today's events--but Taj believed in his abilities as much as he believed in himself, which is why he thought it was worth a shot anyway; if he couldn't escape today's events unscathed then he'd at least give both him and Telem some lasting memories to take home in their minds forever after today's events were done and over with--and that's why he'd suggested they run away from these goons instead of fighting them head-to-head like regular detectives would do; sure, if they fought them straight-up then maybe they could've won--maybe--but if Taj felt like there was even a chance that things might turn out differently then neither him nor Telem would've taken that chance right away without giving it some thought first; after all, wasn't thinking just doing? And wasn't thinking what you shouldn't do when you were being followed by dangerous people such these ones?
And those thoughts led Taj to believe that running away from them was the best option any detective should choose in this type of situation; after all, if you ran away from them then you wouldn't have to fight them head-to-head face-to-face--you could always just hide from them until your pursuer decided to move on elsewhere or something along those lines--and if you hid well enough then maybe you'd get lucky and find yourself safe and sound again afterwards! That's why running away from trouble seemed like the better option here; plus it also gave everyone involved a better chance at surviving whatever event might occur next since running meant avoiding conflict altogether--at least, that's what Taj believed! So long story short: if things went well then everything worked out fine; plus if things went bad then everything still worked out fine because you got yourself out of harm's way either way! And so far today things seem to be going well enough; at least better than expected! But while they were still running away from danger neither Taj nor Telem realized just how wrong they were...
