The Seasaw Conspiracy
·
Published 3/21/2023A rag-tag group of daring warriors from different faiths embarks on a perilous quest to uncover a dark and ancient conspiracy beneath the sea - but the deeper they dive, the more terrifyingly overwhelming the stakes become, and they question if they have what it takes to survive.
The warm glow of the lanterns was a welcome sight to the travelers. Their boat was pulled up on the shore and they had walked into town. They were looking for somewhere to stay, but first they needed to rest, eat, drink.
As they moved further into town, they passed by a signpost pointing in all directions:
*North: King's City, home of the King and his court. Surrounded by an impenetrable wall.
*East: Royal Woods, home of the forest folk. Not much is known about them, except for their propensity for ambushes and traps.
*South: The Wild Coast, home of pirates and bandits. The most lawless corner of the land.
*West: Black Moor, home to the witches and warlocks. A malevolent place where dark magic reigns supreme.
They chose a tavern called "The Stuffed Octopus" and pushed open the door. Inside it was dimly lit with candles on each table surrounded by rough wooden walls stained black with the soot from countless years of cooking fires and candle smoke. Smoke swirled in ribbons through the air as a young waitress approached their table with a large tankard of ale in each hand. She was thin and wiry with long hair that was tied back loosely behind her head. Her face was sharp but pleasant looking with large eyes and full lips. She put down two tankards on their table while they sat at their table waiting for her to return with their food order. One of them looked up to see if there were any other people in the room that he knew, but he couldn't pick them out in the dim light so he looked back down at his ale as it steamed gently in front of him...
