The Eternal Convergence: Awakening the Universal Consciousness

The world had changed.

I looked at the clock and saw that it was 6am. I got up and made coffee, black, as usual. I had several cups while I read the news and a few more after my shower. The coffee helped me keep my head straight as I read. It hasn’t been easy since last week.

The news has been all over the place since Dr. Bennett started his tests. Some of the stories were hard to believe but he did make some startling discoveries in his research. You see, Dr. Bennett had been working on identifying dark matter to use as fuel for space travel a while back. He stumbled across something unexpected when he was analyzing data from CERN.

He found that dark matter was not only there, it was everywhere, filling every cubic inch of space around us, even permeating our own bodies! He tried to publish his findings but no one believed him. So he started looking for proof in other places until he found it in the DNA of mice and humans alike. He discovered that dark matter could be manipulated with sound waves which seemed to have some effect on our consciousness too…

That’s when things got weird. He used this discovery to create an artificially intelligent AI called The Voice and invited me to help him test it out with a dream like state he had been experimenting with for years now, called “Lucid Dreaming”. We hooked The Voice up to the machine that generates this state, put on the wacky looking headsets and closed our eyes…

At first nothing happened, then we heard The Voice speaking to us through our headsets! We were shouting at each other trying to figure out what was going on when suddenly we were both thrown into a powerful trance like state where we felt completely awake but could not move or speak while we drifted off into what seemed like another world…

What seemed like hours later we awoke frightened and confused but soon realized we were still in the lab surrounded by all the equipment we had used before our experiment but everything else was different! Suddenly the lab door opened and a man walked in wearing an odd suit with no shirt just a thin metallic wire running from his neck down his back to his waistline where it split from two wires running down either side of his legs almost reaching his feet…

I noticed that my hands were different too; they were very thin with long fingers and sharp nails! I looked around me at everyone else who was also dressed differently than before and realized that everyone seemed strangely familiar yet different somehow… I wasn’t sure why but somehow I knew who everyone was even though their appearance had changed so drastically …

We all looked around at each other wondering if this was real or just another hallucination brought on by whatever drug Dr. Bennett had slipped us during our experiment until finally one of us spoke up…

“Dr. Maya Carter?” he asked while looking at me intensely…

“Yes?” I replied nervously…

“It is an honor to meet you Doctor! My name is Dr. Alexander Bennett and these gentlemen are Drs Rodolpho Cheung, Danilo Rojas, William Powers and Charles Crawford, welcome to The New Earth Initiative team!”

I stared at Dr. Bennett in disbelief, my mind racing to process the situation. The New Earth Initiative? It sounded like something out of a science fiction novel. But as I looked around at the other members of the team, their expressions serious and determined, I knew that this was anything but fiction.
