Unfathomed Depths of Vhovaian

The King would be displeased. Months of searching and I had yet to find a single clue as to the whereabouts of the weapons.

I set aside my spear and shield and sat down on the cold, dark stone floor. I gazed up at the towering, mysterious structures that surrounded me in this ancient city deep beneath the ocean. The massive domes were covered in what appeared to be glowing green moss. Tiny fish darted around through the water, their small lights giving off a soft glow.

I looked down at my hands. They were dirty, stained with blood from the creatures I had killed along the way. My face was smeared with mud from the long trek I had endured through the swampy forest that surrounded this place. My once-shining armor was now dull and scratched following battles with wild beasts I had encountered on my journey here. The King would not be happy to see his prized warrior in such a state. I sighed as I double checked to make sure my sword was still within reach.

I heard a loud rumble and felt a tremor in the ground below me. The green light dimmed slightly as the columns surrounding me shook, causing debris to fall from their tops and sides. As soon as it began, it stopped, but all was quiet again now, save for the soft pitter-patter of water droplets on stone and metal echoing throughout this cavernous expanse. I got up from my seat and peered around, trying to see if anything had changed after that strange event - if there was any trace of where those weapons might be, or who might have taken them for that matter - but nothing stood out to me; everything seemed just as it did before.

I then recalled what one of these mysterious structures looked like when I first saw it before entering this city - an hour ago it seemed back then, but in reality it had been nearly three months since then: I was digging deep into the earth with a group of servants following me when we came across one of these structures buried deep underground - too deep for us to dig any further without risking our lives - so we just left it be and continued on our way until I decided to stop for a rest when something caught my eye: A faint green light emanating from within this structure...and as soon as my eyes adjusted and focused upon it, my heart skipped a beat! For there before me was a temple made of glowing green stone...one that looked oddly familiar (as if I'd seen it before in some other life) but I couldn't place where exactly since it looked totally different from anything else I'd ever seen before!

Still mesmerized by what I saw before me even while fending off attacks from nearby beasts who could sense my presence, I didn't notice another group of creatures approaching until they attacked! Without thinking twice about what might happen if they got closer to that glowing temple...well...let's just say they won't bother anyone else ever again!

Afterwards, while surveying what happened next around me, one servant pointed towards where that temple once stood only minutes ago and asked "Do you think we should investigate?" To which another replied "No! We have our orders! We must get deeper into this forest!" But despite their protests and insistence on continuing forth into this strange land, something inside me told me to go back instead...to head back towards where that temple once stood...so that's exactly what I did! And that's how I ended up here at this ancient city below us all...searching for those missing weapons!
