There was no sun. It was pitch black, and the city was quiet. But it was a silence like I had never heard before. Usually, even in the dead of night, there is always some sort of noise. Some sort of background growl to the world that you can barely hear but you know is there. But this was different. Now, there was nothing. It was like someone had taken a blanket and covered my ears and eyes, blocking out all sound and light. I tried to move forward in the darkness, but I couldn’t see anything in front of me, not even my hand in front of my face. The feeling of fear began to creep up on me, but then I felt something wet on my hand. I slowly brought my hand up to investigate what it was when two hands grabbed each wrist roughly and pulled me to my feet.

“What are you doing?”

“Trying to figure out where we are,” I replied calmly, knowing who it was holding me by their tone.

“Well stop it! You’re going to attract them!” he hissed back at me. He set me down and I could hear him fumbling around with something while muttering something under his breath that sounded like “Why didn’t she listen?” After a few moments, a match struck and I saw his back outlined against the small amount of light from the match as he lit a candle sitting on top of an old crate next to us. “We have to be silent now. They can smell fear and sound from far away. And they travel fast when they smell humans; especially human fear. We have to be quick about everything we do until we get where we’re going or else it will be too late for us to escape them or save those we left behind! Do you understand?”

I nodded quickly at him and reached into my pocket for my own candle. There were only three left in total since we hadn’t stopped at one of the villages yet because it would have been too risky; we would just get caught if we did that because they knew what houses had candles lit after a certain time on these roads so they could find us easily when they wanted to kill us for an easy dinner later on in our journey through France during this dark time for all people living outside the walls that surrounded Paris--the Reapers of Union had made sure no one lived outside these walls for more than five years after they took over France by killing anyone who dared try at least one time; so now everyone travelled together in small groups with one person who knew how to fight nearby to protect everyone while they slept.

Just the mention of their name brought about a sense of dread – the Reapers of Union. Covered in deep red skin, their eyes burned with a bright yellow-red color akin to flames, and their teeth looked like vicious knives that jutted out eternally from their mouths. It was believed that looking into their eyes could result in terrifying consequences, such as being set ablaze from within or even losing one's soul. Encounters with these monstrous beings often resulted in screams of terror or occasionally victims passing out before they could make a sound - a fate considered somewhat merciful, as it meant the victim would die silently without suffering an eternity in gruesome pain.

Now more than ever, it was crucial to remain vigilant, cautious, and as quiet as possible if they were to evade these evil creatures that had once fallen from the sky to punish humanity for its sins. While most people sought refuge inside the walls surrounding Paris, a young girl found herself faced with an extraordinary quest to recover her stolen crown from her uncle's castle beyond those walls. Though the path ahead seemed unforgiving and treacherous, she knew that she must embark on this journey not only to reclaim her kingdom but also to achieve redemption for all humankind.

Rumors circulated of a forsaken Heavenly realm, with God no longer watching over His creation. According to these whispers, humanity had been abandoned to its own self-destructive devices. For the young girl tasked with embarking on this seemingly impossible challenge though, she felt God's presence and believed that her quest was significant enough for His divine intervention. Counting down the ticking hours before midnight, she knew she had to be brave, wise, and steadfast in her determination to save her kingdom.

The uncertainty of what lies in wait tested her spirit, but she never wavered from her chosen path. The support of her companions, too, contributed to the strength they needed in order to overcome the lurking dangers. Every step taken, towards the castle outside Paris, served as a reminder: only honor, courage, and unyielding willpower could grant them the chance to enter Heaven's gates. In these dark and trying times, wavering meant risking eternal damnation alongside the monstrous Reapers of Union. Thus, filled with unwavering conviction, they pressed onwards through the bleak night, bound together by common purpose and shared tenacity.
