Secretly In Love: Gavi and Pedri's Tumultuous Journey

Due to some unfortunate luck and a bad decision, I found myself in a jail cell in the middle of nowhere.

The walls were covered in what I could only assume was feces, and the smell was so repugnant that breathing was difficult.

I vividly recall the night I landed here. The last memory before ending up here was being at a bar with my teammate, Pedri. We had been celebrating our victory against Real Madrid.

Having consumed more drinks than advisable, I called a cab for us both. Pedri, not wanting me to pay, insisted he would pay me back later. He mentioned living nearby, but there were two stops before reaching his destination.

Pedri hadn't said much about his residence until we arrived. The place resembled an old warehouse and felt out of place from the other buildings in town.

While he paid the driver, I noticed another car parked outside, seemingly waiting for him. We all exited our vehicles and entered the building, going separate ways.

Concerned for his well-being, as he seemed unwell leaving the bar, I waited for Pedri to return. While waiting, however, two guys entered the room and propositioned me with a large sum of money if I allowed them to have their way with Pedri, promising to release him afterward. They threatened that calling the police would result in both our deaths.

Their intentions were clear, and I couldn't allow it without giving Pedri a chance to defend himself. As they turned away to fetch their wallets, I seized one of them and executed a sleeper hold. With great force, I threw him against the wall before turning to confront his armed friend.

They were surprised by my swift reaction, but their alarm quickly turned to anger when their friend managed to escape the chokehold and deliver a powerful kick to my neck.

Despite the kick, adrenaline was coursing through my veins, making their attacks seem as though they barely grazed me. Suddenly, the man with the gun lunged at me, attempting to grab something from his pocket. Instinctively, I grabbed his wrist and twisted it until it snapped, causing him to drop his weapon as he winced in pain. As he fell toward me, we both landed on the cold, concrete floor where I continued to pummel his face until he finally lost consciousness.

At that moment, Pedri entered the room, horrified and holding back nausea at the sight of the beaten man beneath me.

Pedri's girlfriend approached me, her face streaked with tears as she struggled to find the balance between comforting me and sobbing uncontrollably. "Please don't let them kill him... Please..."

Hours later, the assailants returned, brandishing various weapons and pointing guns at us. They spewed venomous words before firing two rounds into one another and collapsing lifelessly next to us. The shock caused Pedri's girlfriend to lose consciousness.

When we awoke, it felt as though something had changed. She held my hand with a loving gaze as if nothing horrible had transpired. Despite what occurred that night and the remnants of mental and emotional scars, our relationship did not falter. On the contrary, it somehow improved.

Although terrible events occur daily throughout existence, sometimes people manage to avoid facing the worst of situations and still live happy lives. These exceptions require immense effort, but through it all, happiness can prevail amidst the inevitability of suffering.
