“Trying to get some shut eye here, Tommy.”

“Yeah, yeah, I hear ya. You know I’m not the one that wakes you up at this ungodly hour of the mornin’, Lance.” The old man chuckled as he poured himself a cup of coffee from his thermos, “It’s those little devils in the crib over there. As innocent as they look, they make all kinds of noise at night. Just like their parents do.”

Lance slowly opened his eyes and turned towards the crib in the corner of the room. He whispered quietly to himself as he spoke softly, “I was tryin’ to get some sleep, baby boy. Just a few more minutes and I promise we can play some more when we wake up, okay?”

The sound of soft footsteps could be heard outside their door followed by a few knocks on it. “Hey! Is anybody awake in there?”

Lance sat up on his bed and answered back groggily, “Yeah, just a sec. We’re decent here so you guys can come in now. How long did you say this operation is gonna last again? We got dawn comin’ soon and I don’t want to be caught off guard again. You remember last time ‘bout a month ago… that was no fun for any of us.”

The door swung open and in walked in two men with their hoods up covering their faces with black masks. The first one who entered the room carried a large bag with him while the other stood guard outside near the door with his shotgun ready to fire if needed. The first man threw the bag into Lance’s lap before he left quickly with his partner following behind him as they exited through the window. Lance looked inside the bag and saw several stacks of paper money along with several plastic bags filled with white powdery substance scattered around it along with some blue pills on top of it all that looked strangely familiar to him.

He looked over at Tommy who was still busy packing away his things as if nothing had happened earlier that morning then turned back towards the baby who kept staring at him curiously before turning once again towards Tommy who finished packing away all his belongings before walking towards him and taking out a small mirror from his jacket pocket which had an image of a yellow smiley face engraved into it along with some letters engraved onto it: 『WELCOME TO THE FAMILY』. Lance stared at it for a moment before looking back towards the crib once again where he saw the baby staring right back at him with a smile plastered across its face like its father had been doing moments ago when he showed him that same mirror.
