When I was a little girl, my father left me with my grandmother. He told her that he had to go and travel the seas. He never came back.

I grew up listening to my grandmother tell stories of him and his adventures. She told me of him being a fisherman and sailing the oceans, fighting monsters and mythical beings until his ship was lost to the waves. He was gone, but always stayed in my thoughts.

I grew up learning how to do things that other children didn't do; I learned how to sail, how to row, how to wield an axe and pierce kelp with a spear. I learned all the skills my father knew and I couldn't help but wonder if these were the skills he had used on his own travels.

When I turned 18, I told my grandmother that I wanted to find out what happened to my father. No one knows where he went off too or why he left us so suddenly, but it isn't fair for me to grow old without knowing the truth about him.

She gave me an old compass and some rations before she let me set sail in the only boat we owned. The winds were kind and allowed me enough speed to travel far away from our home village. After weeks of traveling, I began to notice something different about the waters around me. They were much calmer than they should be at this time of year and there wasn't any wind at all. It was as though nature itself was trying to tell me something was wrong here, but what?

I continued on until I saw land in the distance. It seemed odd that there would be land out here in the middle of nowhere, but I decided it could be nothing more than a small island just big enough for a few trees to grow on it. As I got closer, however, I noticed something strange about it; there were no waves crashing against its shores! My mind raced with questions as I bared towards the strange island- what was going on here? There was only one way to find out...
