Ada's Grand Odyssey

The view was beautiful.

I looked out my window at the stars, their cold light shining into my ship. I rest my hands on the window and felt the chill of space running through my body. My skin was frigid but it didn't bother me.

I thought to myself as I looked at Mars, our home world. Large swirls and clouds drifted over the surface like paint over a canvas. All those years ago when humanity first stepped foot on that red rock, we never anticipated what we would find there.

I smiled to myself as I relived the memories of the old days. The first time we discovered life beyond ourselves, that's all anyone can talk about nowadays. It was just a simple microbe, barely one celled and most likely from Earth, but that didn't matter. There were aliens! Intelligent life! From a planet known as Earth!

Of course, after some time and more exploration of Mars came a greater discovery, one that changed everything. We discovered that Mars wasn't alone, in fact it wasn't even close to being alone out there. We found creatures of all shapes and sizes out there in space, big and small, intelligent and not so much, but they were all alive! And they were everywhere! Some of them had even built cities in the void of space!

We knew then that the galaxy was filled with life and it seemed like almost every planet had something unique about it that set it apart from others, which is why we started an interstellar mission to explore these new worlds for ourselves.

The creatures I saw today however weren't something I ever expected to see. Two beings stood outside my ship in deep space: a man whose body was covered in wires and glowing bionic parts, and a woman whose whole body was wrapped in hardened dark leather with cracks where her skin showed through. Both of them wore strange uniforms with several patches that looked like badges or honors on them. They both wore advanced headgear with goggles attached to tubes that ran down their backs into small devices on their belts. They both held what looked like weapons in their hands which they aimed right at me as soon as they saw me move away from my window. Their guns had large round barrels with odd symbols etched into them while their two handles were made of smooth yellowish material with black grips on either end of them. The guns seemed to hum strangely whenever they moved them around, looking at my ship and pointing at each other's heads before aiming back at me again. As they pointed weapons at me I noticed how their bodies seemed stiffer than usual while they walked towards me until they reached a flat panel screen on my wall next to the door then pressed buttons there which muffled their voices before showing text on my screen saying "Ada Wake Up."

"What?" I said aloud as I walked up to my door when suddenly I heard a loud thud against my door followed by several more hits until finally it shattered under the pressure like glass breaking before flying off its hinges and landing beside me on the floor along with another figure who stumbled forwards into the room holding what looked like one of those rifles only smaller in his hands while he tumbled back onto his face with a loud grunt before jumping up quickly and pointing his gun back towards me with wide eyes while all I could do was stare back at him stunned by what happened until I heard another voice behind him say "Hey Kaden are you okay?" before walking over his fallen companion who immediately relaxed after seeing her approach him before looking back at me with a worried smile saying "Don't worry Ada this isn't what you think."
