The Humorous Dark: Detective Anthony Treyvere's Curious Case

Detective Anthony Treyvere was sitting at his desk, head resting on his arms. He had been staring at the same piece of paper for the past two hours but he couldn't make any sense of it. There were just too many numbers and letters, it was too much for him to handle.

A knock sounded on his door.

"Hey, Tony!" a cheerful voice said. It was his partner, Mike Barnes.

"Go way," Anthony replied without looking up. Mike walked into the room anyways and sat down in one of the chairs opposite Anthony's desk.

"You've been working on that case for weeks now and nothing's come out of it," Mike said, "you've got to admit that you need a break."

Anthony rolled his eyes and mumbled something under his breath.

"What?" Mike said.

"I said I'm fine," Anthony replied as he threw the sheet of paper on the floor, "I just need a little more time."

Mike gave a chuckle and shook his head, "Tony... you've been at this for so long that I started thinking you weren't going to solve it. But if you're still obsessing over solving this case, then I don't see why I should stop you."

Mike got up from his chair and headed towards the door. Before he could leave he turned around and said, "Just don't let it affect your health."

As soon as Mike left the office, Anthony picked up the sheet of paper from the floor and started reading it once again. The investigation was about a missing person's case, a woman by the name Jillian Smith. She disappeared from her home three months ago and there were no witnesses or CCTV footage available. The only thing they had was this sheet of paper which contained all her personal information including her ID number, address, etc... everything that she would have needed to open a bank account or go to a hospital or any other public place in America. The case had been assigned to Anthony because there were no leads whatsoever that could help in finding Jillian Smith. And hence he had been stuck on this investigation for weeks now with no luck whatsoever. He had read through all Jillian's social media accounts to find some clue regarding her disappearance but nothing interesting turned up anywhere online. It seemed like Jillian Smith lived an ordinary life where nothing significant ever happened in her daily routine.

The few photos that existed of Jillian and her husband showed them shopping for groceries or eating dinner together, along with a myriad of wedding pictures. They appeared to be living a mundane and normal life until their sudden disappearance after grocery shopping three months prior. As time passed, people began to lose hope of ever locating the couple alive.

Their case gained notoriety among true crime show enthusiasts who longed for fresh content to consume. However, despite their growing desire for something new to captivate their attention, they continued to re-watch episodes of popular television shows such as Supernatural or Criminal Minds. Though these shows had been airing for years, their fan bases remained dedicated, eagerly anticipating each new episode.

Anthony couldn't help but think about the possibility of the case being solved, finally bringing closure to Jillian and her husband's mysterious disappearance.
